So many conflicting reports on this.

One fact that seems irrefutable is that he has been offered the 11 and will think it over.

I don't know, I'm conflicted...

I presumed Gawn would follow Stynes from 37 to 11 and as I write this I am struck by how needlessly sentimental that is...

If he wants it he can take it.

He ain't a ruckman anymore though...

I always liked the idea of Gawn getting #11, so I'm all for him keeping his #1.

if he wants 11 and knows who is suggesting it and has worn it I reckon he should have it. Inevitably yes 'who cares'. But he's got that great running and decision making that jimmy had so I reckon it would be a good fit.

If he does get it he should wear a cap for a game to dedicate to Jimmy. :)

Nm 1. Then he and Nathan Jones can have lockers next to each other and discuss sleave tattoos. And he won't have to change his twitter handle.

I've never thought numbers per se were particularly important. But perhaps who your locker is next to might be. I wonder whether clubs give any thought to the psychology of players when deciding on their numbers.

It means a couple of years ago all our new players were numbered in the high 40s which would have meant their lockers were all together. Intuitively this seems mistaken. I think new players should be mixed in with the more experienced players. Putting a new key position prospect near James Frawley, for example, might make more sense than putting him next to another new player.

I agree with this but if Jim has offered, it would nearly be rude to say no.

Not that it would be anything against Jim in anyway, but its probably the most important number at MFC atm

I know it's senseless but I'm into the numbers.

Since they hand the numbers over from a significant previous wearer - I think #11 is definitely the go for Clark - the time is ripe.

Would love to see JV in #31, just ticks all the boxes for me.

So am I for some reason...

And, yes, I would like to see Viney get 31 or 23.

Yes I'd be very happy with JV in 23 too.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
