I heard both this and the 3AW interview, and that was even better, with more depth.

Don't have a link though, sorry.

I think the total 2 hr 3AW show will be available on their website about 10.00am tomorrow, and you can listen then.

NoNoNo, Not split hairs at all.. It's an attitude. the games changed and the coach is no longer the Boss as was.

He's a front man & an Employee. As they all are.

If one doesn't cut it, you won't remove the whole thing. It's a footy dept now, & so we can't go looking to pin the 'Blame Tail' on one donkey, from Outside the Room.

Sorry, I'm trying to figure out if that is a negative or a positive post.

Probably a positive, given you don't sack all the shite in the FD.

It's a business and the weak link falls. That may not be the coach. The rest survive, otherwise it's unaffordable and crap, anyway. Interesting times these dayz.

Just been wondering.... The curse of Norm Smith - anyone else get the feeling it may have been lifted thanks our old arch enemies treating Mick Malthouse in a similar way to Norm being given his marching orders after 64. They have now lost Neeld to us may lose Watters to St Kilda, leaving Bucks without much current help. Just wondering if we may just passed the buck to the magpies - may 50 odd years of hell go your way and many new green pastures come ours

Hopefully once Norm is resurrected at the G in the parade of champions next year and welcomed back home the curse will be lifted. Would love for the Pies to be handed the curse but even with being reigning premiers and pinching one in 1990, I'd hope our next 50 years is more successful than their last 50 years let alone ours.

No, the curse remains... We sacked Smith for a reason (though the reason defeats me now... Barassi?) , Collingwood have sacked M&M for no reason.

Naturaly I'd be more than happy for Collingwood to start losing games, perhaps beginning this week. :)

Sorry, I'm trying to figure out if that is a negative or a positive post.

Don't try too hard.

Why does a post have to be one, or the other?

It is just a post of where we as supporters need to try to look from in future.

To not tear things apart when they are moving slower than some supporters would like. (Not You) The tendency is for supporters to squeal when things look down, then others cling on to the same rock, as it's rolling downhill.

We are rebuilding and teaching and this will continue, development phase, til 2014. Buy which time we would hope were at around 6th or 5th place, or better.

So I think we need to realise the footy dept is a maze, and all of it needs to work well to get good results.

It's not about blaming the one head coach anymore. It could be any part of the Dept.

This curse will be gone thanks to Big Jimma Stynes...All MFC supporters should rock up to the 'G next year when Norm Smith is unvield. Imagine that, 50,000 MFC (who lack passion) we are told rock up to pay tribute to "The Red Fox"

Now that would get Jimmy Smiling.

Praise the Lord (in every religion, or other), Brother.

People forget that Neil Craig actually has a damn good record as Crows coach. Yeah sure they sucked this year but before that it was finals every year. Back in the mid noughties they were just about the best team going around (except for the choking at finals time).

Furthermore we've got him in a role that suits his expertise. The fact so many other clubs were after him makes me happy.

Interestingly, Craig and Bailey were both sacked this year as many predicted. Since then, Craig has been hot property, while Bailey has been left in the lurch. Kinda sad isn't it? No doubt Bails was a great guy and had the right intentions, but if he was up to it, he would have found a new gig by now.

Craig had a state behind him. No success through. Don't crap about 'hot property'.

Paul Roos said on On The Couch a couple months ago that Neil Craig is one of the very best coaches in the league and that he is universally respected by all other senior coaches.

I recall Roos also saying that he was very hard to coach against. Very prepared, runs a very well drilled side etc.

This is an enormous get for the club. I cannot believe people have any doubt about this. We have beaten some much bigger clubs to secure his signature.

The Scully situation aside, the Demons are seemingly becoming an attractive club to others. I can't remember this ever happening before - certainly not in my lifetime.

I am absolutely stoked about recent developments. This is all good.

There's talk that Bailey may go to Adelaide.

Craig is an elite sports scientist - check his history - who took the crows to minor premiers one year and was revolutionary in his trainging methods - just think how hard that is to achieve.

His humbling interview on SEN yesterday had 'class act' stamped all over it.

Huge get for us

.

This is the first post Iv'e seen on the attractiveness now of the Club. Scully is doomed to languish in the west of Sydney, but what would new draftees now think if Prendergast gets them to us at trade/draft time.

Another awesome appointment!

This is a huge step in changing the culture of the club. Players have no choice but too step up...

The MFC will be a quite an attractive desination for new draftees and players from opposition clubs looking for new homes.

New facilities, the best coaches, a talented list, the MCG and the passion! = Success.

Tech people help!

I've looked at the SEN site and see the I/V with craig but cannot get it to play. There is no indication of the length of the I/V on the screen. What do I need to do?

Former Adelaide coach Neil Craig yesterday confirmed he would take up a new role as director of sports performance with Melbourne, rejecting bids from Richmond, Collingwood, Brisbane Lions and the Blues, and would become a key mentor of rookie coach Mark Neeld.

So we beat 4 other clubs for his services. If that's not hot property then I'm not sure what is.

I'm having the same problem. Can't seem to play the SEN audio. I also can't find the 3AW recording.

Any assistance from fellow Demonlanders would be appreciated.

Ditto.

If you look at the size of the file it says 0.

That means to me there is nothing there to play.Either way I get nothing as well.

Same here. The 3AW interview is worth a listen though

Ironic; That the thing that may make Us more attractive to those who want success, is us losing our attractive, or pretty football side.

Bruise free & political correctness, is the Curse that Checker & Smith, trod on, & kept down.

Hard to please.5008_9c00_420.gif?1265669754

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
