How Brent Moloney didn't get a spot on the extended team is beyond me.

Give me a spell..

Think they could have named another 10-15 without us getting a nod. Moloney probably around 50-55.

Luke McPharlin....OH Please!

Go watch some non-demon games, McPharlin is all but a lock at FB.

The moment Moloney got a donut, he lost any chance of making any squad.

Would not be surprised if he was picked up for the international series though.

Captain Jack - I agree 'brownlow' bate was stiff.

Eddie Betts is no Stephen Milne, who is the only small forward who should be considered.

He does not have to be but Betts has still had a creditable season with 45 goals. he gets a reasonable nomination but I dont think he will make the final 22.

See if you can move beyond the banal black and white on issues and you might surprise yourself. Go on ...try it.

Thought Jamar deserved a mention, but otherwise they don't deserve any spots at all

no-one deserved a spot, Jamar hardly played and when he did he was very average, Martin was better. The only players who could have got close would have been Moloney or Trengove.

Based over the 22 games played this season I would suggest that a Melbourne player would struggle to get in the top 200 players for the league.

Our performance was way down compared to 2010. We might have got the same win/loss ratio, but the KPI indicators gave a different story.

Robert Murphy & Eddie Betts get a run....What a Joke!!!

Have to agree on Betts and I haven't followed Murphy's season but his stats across the year really do stack up.

I am sorry you think of yourself as a tip site WYL. How is your blog going if you dont like being challenged for your comments on a forum?

Sorry lads got my Murphys mixed up!

Btw I think this is right ... http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/andrew-walker-floored-left-out-of-all-australian-squad/story-e6frf9jf-1226130938985

A glaring omission. Wonder why? Surely he had a better season than Betts.

M Murphy plays midfield and would be considered against other midfielders. Betts plays small forward. Its out of he and Milne for the role.

I would rather have them select Walker in the forward pocket than settle for someone like Betts or Milne purely because they are a few centimetres shorter.

He's been better than them surely.

Walker does not play the small forward role. He is more akin to Jeremy Howe mid size type. Played better than Howe.

For the record,

Andrew Walker, Jeremy Howe are 190 cm. Betts is 173cm and Milne is 178cm.

Different players, Different roles.

Robert Murphy has had a really good year and was the only bulldog boxing on when they were playing poorly.

The amazing part - Brendan Fevola 191cm...

RR it's my understanding that the initial squad of 40 isn't based on position but rather the best players of the year and is subsequently sorted into a 22 from there. If you're selecting Milne in your 40, there's zero need for a token second forward who doesn't show up against top opposition.

How you'd chose Betts over Walker this year is beyond me.

Thanks for the mention Billy, can always count on you.

I think its a mixture of both. Walker could have commanded a spot on his own.

If that was the case why is that they only seemed to select two ruckman each year? Surely Mumford deserves a guernsey as one of the key drivers of the Swans.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
