With you all the way here hardtack. The OP was about having the right controls on this to make sure that he is doing what is required of him day by day. If he meets those requirements and kicks goals then everyone on here will be singing his praises. If not then it just beggars belief. Cook and Fitzy aren't ready for the big leagues yet, and next year at Casey will be a chance for them to develop fully and grow as players. Meanwhile, our other players get to learn off one of the great recent (and natural) forwards to play the game. If he mucks up, he is one and so is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, any hope of finishing his career with some respect and some prospects. Worth a punt in my opinion.

I have zero faith in that happening.

It's not a big risk, it's an impossibility.

We'll make finals next year without Fev.

I don't see what plausible benefit we can get from a once-great FF on his last legs, who won't be around when we contend for a flag.

We could be using Cook or Fitzy in the spot he takes in the 1s next year, or further developing Stef Martin up forward.

Once Fev leaves, it gives us the problem of still needing to have another player learn to take his role at AFL level, instead of already having learnt it.

And none of this takes into account his counter-productive "leadership", blinkered selfishness or his distractions.

He's doing to his best to appear a good little boy now, in an effort to get one last chance.

Who knows what will happen once the pressure valve is relieved a little when he knows he has secured that chance?

These thing are great, but don't forget:

• Theft of jackets from a drycleaners in North Melbourne; he was fined $8000

I really like the guy and would absolutely love him to get another chance, but there is a lot of baggage that I think the MFC could do without.

If we get frustrted at the likes of Morton's lopping around the field I can only imagine the implosion on here after watching this bloke's lackadaisical defensive pressure/chasing in our fwd 50. Or after seeing him leaning over the fence bored as a Bartram lazer's a pass 20 meters away from his pointed finger where he wants to lead too. Guh, the overall game has passed him by. He can still lead, take a mark and slot them from 55 but he doesn't fit into the full press in the game at present let alone our "window".

Sign him please. Can play until 34, just like Hall, who still performs. Get him please. Sick of always finding excuses to not draft experienced players. The current model of intense conservatism when drafting and signing players is drowning the club in mediocrity, and has for some time. Just give a bloke a go. Do it.

Sorry mate don't see the comparison. Have a look at Hall compared to the other bloke... the other bloke is fat as a house compared to Hall. Hall keeps himself supremely fit even with an ankle thatis forcing him to retire. Hall also fits into the team dynamic...

Do we all forget the brain fades, the complete laziness and single focus this guy has on himself in everything he does in life let alone on the football field, how has this changed?
