Gary Lyon on TFS

I'm not a sports science or fitness expert.

I just know what the club did with Wonaeamirri earlier in the preseason, after a similar situation.

I expect they don't plan on playing him for the rest of the season

Don't risk any injuries and get a good pre-season into him?

The Lyon King was amazing last night - that sensational, prickly steel demeanour that he had as a player came through.

I had a man crush.....

but then he comes out and says he can't do the job on an ongoing basis because of his role in the media. Helllloooo!!! half the damn commentators and competition in general are conflicted up the their eyeballs. Let's see:

- McGuire - say no more

- Mick Malthouse commentates on SEN for god's sake.

- All the player managers - Pickering, Lynch etc

- Brayshaw

- Dunstall does exactly what Garry has been asked to do and it doesn't seem to hurt him.

I know he CBF doing it full time so just stick with that story I think.

Still glad he is helping out, just disso that he won't commit.

I really must be missing something here.

I know he would not play this year at AFL level.

However if he is not going to play at Casey why bring him back from the NT till Pre season starts.

And why did he play last week?

So I rang the club to be told " he was feeling a bit off after last weekends game".

What does "feeling a bit off" mean?

"He just felt a bit off"

So did 40 other players and 36000 members.

What the hell gives here?

I think it's the cringe you have that is part of what he wants get out of the club, that sweeping under the rug of issues and problems. You cannot rectify an issue without having first acknowledged there is an issue in the first place.

Mate sorry for being thick but I am not sure what you are trying to tell me?

Can you put it a little simpler

Never say never - when he gets in there, sniffs the dencorub, gets a rub down, kicks the footy.......

If it's any consolation I couldn't make much sense out of it either (acknowledging that it came from a poster who is usually pretty articulate).

A bit off subject Old Dee, but if you havn't already done so, try a bottle of the 2009 Emblem Shiraz from our sponsor Tyrrell's Wines, Heathcote vinyard. A lovely drop and extremely good value for MFC members and supporters. The label features our Emblem, of course. Guaranteed to ease some of the pain of the last week.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
