Dropping the skipper is the ultimate sign of weakness.

But firing the CEO isn't?

Their form has been very similar...

Although one of them isn't on the verge of doing a massive sponsorship deal...

Dropping the skipper is the ultimate sign of weakness.

Occassionally clubs need to make a stand. Now I think he'll play until the season is out, but our LG seriously needs addressing, in particular the captaincy IMO at the end of the season/off-season.

Why would it be the 'ultimate sign of weakness ?' For Brad - maybe. For the club, no.

Brad needs to involve himself more, physically or verbally. Some feel for him because he is a forward and is one who gets on the end of it, finishes good work from upfield - so it might be difficult from that aspect. But he needs to be seen doing something, whether in play, leading into the huddles at the breaks, going around talking to his teammates and giving them a rev up. He doesn't do it as well as today's other captains.

Getting back to making a stand, the winds of change have occurred with Bailey outgoing and it shouldn't stop there. This club needs to address important issues, and leadership is a significant part of that.

Not making such decisions WILL BE a sign of weakness ! And IMO not supporting your club in it's time of need and when required IS a sign of weakness.

ie.

Enjoyed my night. The last time I have anything to do with the Melbourne Football Club til change is made.

Sylvia heads possible Melbourne exodus

The Demons could be faced with trade requests from as many as eight players seeking greener pastures at the end of the season.

Experienced big man Lynden Dunn, developing young ruckman Stefan Martin, tough on-baller Nathan Jones, utility pair Cale Morton and Joel Macdonald, defender Matthew Warnock as well as Addam Maric are all believed to be considering their futures with the Demons.

Be spewing to lose Martin; can't see us letting him go. First I've heard of Jones. Why would a second club battler like McDonald want to go anywhere? Warnock would probably get a run elsewhere. Morton is a Morton. Maric - hmmm. Dunn - ha!

An article not worth republishing. What a load of bollocks.

Ah, But ! Would you consider making an investment in the future by trading Jamar to GWS for the 1st Pick U-17 Yr old, + another 2012 pick.

Jamar would get a huge payday to see his Career out nicely, he won't make a GFinal with us,,, and we'd get the best Elite Youngster,,, + we'd be in the position to give Gawn all the games he needs to come on & we could elevate Robbie Campbell (If required) next year, + Martin is there with Years to develop further.

And Spencer could continue his development with young Fitzpatrick showing all the signs of maturing, we could then rookie another young project Ruck.

As someone who lives in Perth I can tell you all Kim Hagdorn is a crab, he is way off the mark with his info at Wet Coke & Freo. I would not take any notice of an article written by him. He also wrote a column last week that we were looking at approaching Worsfold for the coaching role.

Seems the players were not happy with the positions they were playing in and the roles they were told to play under Bailey. This is not the first sign that there was discontent among the players about Bailey's coaching. There was also something earlier this year where Scully was supposedly unhappy about playing on a wing and some of the comments that have come out at the foundation dinner and from Jack Trengove would indicate there were a few problems.

So much for the unity behind the coach.

Dee-luded, everyone has their price. I would indeed do that deal. And, since it is topical, if the GWS Ramraiders want to pay Scully a million dollars while we are guaranteed two big picks in return, I would do the deal.

Bah! Might as well be some fella's personal blog for all the credibility that site has.

Even if true, sad to say but really only Martin and Sylvia are must keeps from that list, and Sylvia only at the right price. We have to turn over at least 4 players anyway to prepare for the next draft and Dunn, Maric and Warnock will all be trade bait, along with bate (pardon the pun) and possibly Spencer (only coz he's behind the other ruckman now)

They want to leave? It may not be up to them.

Yep,, I would speak to the Russian and ask him what he'd like to do. If he had the slightest inclination to get some superannuation I'd start to see if there's any interest.

If Jamar didn't want to go I'd then plan to make him a one club player.

We do have to start to make some tough decisions as the List gets deeper.

We still have to look to find Mids, Mids, Mids to find the Guns.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
