I know Moloney was subbed off but I couldnt see him sitting on the bench and didnt see him walk off after the game. I was sitting on the other side of the ground and couldnt see him. Was he injured or was he sitting in the corner of the bench?

I still cant believe he didnt touch the ball for a whole half.

lol 'flu'. bloody pathetic excuse.

What, you've never had the flu?

Moloneys commitment can't be questioned.

If he had the flu then why did the play? Jurrah had the flu last week and pulled out before the game.

...... its the flu, if he was so physically challenged by it then he should have done the right thing and pulled out of the game (i know that it wouldn't have made a difference to have a different witches hat out there today, but come on)

We had a player on standby, Tom McDonald didnt play in the Casey side, and warmed up with the seniors at half time of the VFL.

So for Moloney to put personal pride in the way of team functionality is simply not good enough!

Exactly right if Beamer had the flu and couldnt run out a game he should not have been playing. I love Beamer and he is probably our real captain but we needed his run out there today.

"Melbourne lost its most consistent contested ball winner, Brent Moloney, to a virus at half-time after he'd been affected throughout the first half.

And they were getting smashed out of the centre."

I heard that he was up knocking on the Geelong coaches door, pleading for them to take him back B)

Was great news for Tom. He didn't have to debut in that garbage.

Agreed. Bonus points for not being tarnished by the Casey debacle either.

'We're all on notice'

As far as I'm concerned they've been on notice all year, or at least since the eagles subiaco debacle. This club needs to grow a set & start making some hard decisions in regards to player mentality & professional preparation. We've heard all the excuses & possible explanations. It's time to bring in a coach & FD that is proven & uncompromising (preferably personel from outside the MFC as our culture is an absolute laughing stock). If the Board don't spend or raise the appropriate funds needed to assemble a top class FD this playing group is going down the same path as the failures before them. I just hope this flogging was a wake up call to the administrators that draft picks alone ain't going to get us where we want to be. If we are serious about winning a flag the club needs to act now to raise funds through the coterie & sponsorship to bring in the best coaches & footy dept we can assemble. If the club doesn't act now we can forget about getting anywhere near silverware within the next 10 years. There are going to be 17 other clubs competing for the grand prize soon, the only way to beat them is to get ahead of them off the field. We are clearly behind in terms of our FD, time for that to change starting now.

I don't think the "good lord" comes into it at all QueenC, cause I reckon it is fair to say that he has forsaken the supporters of the MFC

But the little league won 9.3 to nothing. Number 14 was pretty good, should have debut in the seniors, maybe they all should have stayed on after half time. THEY OUT SCORED THE SENIORS!

What I want to know is ...

Which braniac/s at Melbourne approved a bloke obviously sick with a virus to even suit up and run out on to the ground?

It beggars belief.

Most players will play given the opportunity. Especially someone as gung-ho as Beamer. It seems amateurish that the medical staff didn't just say "No". That does worry me.

Posted

I wouldn't surprise me to hear that Bailey had questioned Brent about his commitment with a zero possession half and his response required the substitution.

Posted

If Moloney had the flu, he should never have played. He's a highly paid & experienced professional athlete, something's seriously wrong if that's the excuse/reason.

On the other hand, if he was fit to play, getting zero touches (and zero DT points, a world record as far as I'm aware) is indicative of a player with serious problems.

Either way, Beamer let MFC down badly.

(and he's a guy I've had the greatest admiration for, got him in my DT but will seriously consider trading him this week)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
