That's weird... I went back three or four pages and cannot see any High Tower comments at all. Is this a side effect of my watching the Tour de France?

No actually you are right i answered the wrong comment while i was at work, i just re read it all myself....my apologies!!demon_cool.gif

I've had the unfortunate experience of now reading, or at least scanning, much of this new Tom thread and am sick of having to edit and delete posts that contain personal abuse or insults to other posters. And yes, I will have missed some.

Keep to topic please (although how you've got the energy I don't know). If I see posts with personal abuse they will be deleted even if is a fleeting reference and they make a good point in the rest of their offering.

Thanks

This is the first time I've posted on any Scully thread from memory... I could be wrong though. I am still confident that Scully will stay, and I believe everything he has said thus far, unlike some people on here obviously. I have full confidence in the club getting the best outcome for the team... whether it is with or without him.

Anyway, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet (I can't be bothered filtering through 14 pages) but I noticed something when the boys were singing the song after beating Port Adelaide on Saturday night... there was one notable absentee from the circle of players after the game. Don't need to be a rocket scientist to realise who it is considering this thread. Maybe it was because of his knee... I don't know, but it just seemed odd considering the speculation that would arise from his absence.

Anyway, click on the link:

This thread needs some kind of marker when something new is discussed.

Reading it in its entirety is no less than cruel and unusual punishment.

Doesn't surprise me that it's been noticed. There has been approximately 100 pages with the three Scully threads. Haha. Anyone give a credible reason why he was absent?

You could ask Jaded - but I'd make sure your Life policy is up to date first.

You'll just have to wait until Range Rover serves out his ban to find out.

The club song was sung in the cool room

You will notice that Scully in the very first second of the video you linked to is in the change rooms.

The credible reason given is that he was in the change rooms and was getting treatment on the knee.

My spies tell me he was out the back of the grandstand with Gubby puffing on a ciggie and holding a beer in one hand and a pie in the other.

This is like a game of where's wally.

Read between the lines, man!

Do people have to spell out the things that others don't want them to spell? Or are you one of those people that only spell the things you have spelt before, or 'know' how to spell?

Stop getting spelling lessons and realise that it isn't what people spell that is important, it's what they don't spell.

Spelling is in the eye of the bespeller.

The word spell has lost all meaning to me. Sorry about this post.

Stop trying to make mountains out of mole hills. I'm sure there is a very valid reason why the events unfolded the way the did.

Get off the blokes back. Last thing I noticed was the "gutsy, gutsy" effort of him backing into the pack with a red & blue jumper on trying to do his best for us.

Go Dees.

Or like a game of Cludo - it was Gubby in the Library with a contract and a fountain pen.

It was Scully in the change rooms, with a knee injury and a pay cheque....

Not on his back at all - just giving responses that were posted previously by others as reasons for him not singing the song.

I get the giggles every time I read that Tom looks happy, unhappy, twitchy , nervous, calm, was in the huddle, wasnt in the huddle, said too much, said too little, why isnt he doing more media, why isnt he doing less media.....

Heres what I think -I think that by October I will know what is happening with his contract. Not one thing I do can will change the outcome. Up until that time I will watch the boys play and cheer madly for every player wearing the red and blue.

More Mike Sheahan garbage on the HUN website - Tom Scully as good as gone.

Also, an article about the opinion of some kids - which is probably more valuable than Mike's opinion - Kids say Tom Scully should stay a Demon

Haha. Too much BigFooty for Mikey.

"There are persistent suggestions Scully and his family haven't been happy with the way the Demons have managed events this year. Only they know whether that's accurate, but the speculation intensifies..."

Pig's arse he's a Melbourne supporter.

More trollop from Mike. Sometimes I really wonder what orifice these articles get pulled from.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was being fed to the media to justify Tom leaving the club and not looking like a mercenary. It won't work we will all know why he left and trying to show him in a better light when he does just won't cut it. Money is the reason, lots of it.

This is a worse kept secret than Gablett last year and is making all parties look stupid. Melbourne should have the balls to give him an ultimatum so we can plan how we will use our Compensation picks, he is gone.

70/30 seems about right to me now although that article did nothing to change anything I already thought. It seemed to grab at everything from a press conference, to Jim talking to him, to his dad's job, to Cam Bruce, to a suggestion that CC needs to go to make Scully happy. These journo's are getting worse by the day.

Posted

And another article from the tabloid by an idiot called Jay Clark (I think he reads bigfooty too much)

Rift with Dees top brass may force Tom Scully to take the money and run

The Jay Clark piece of scuttlebutt mixed with conjecture comes from one of the HUN's lesser journalistic lights and demonstrates that there's a dirty little game being played out here.

Fancy dredging up the departure from a young developing club of Junior, a 34 year old veteran, and Bruce, only a few years younger, who has had five games with Hawthorn this year thanks to injury?

Whatever you might think about whether this pair should or should not have remained at the MFC in 2011, the decision to retain players considered to be past their use by date is a matter of club policy that is as far out of the thinking of most youngsters as Rooty Hill.

Would it play a part in a 20 year old's decision making as to his playing future?

Please, give me a break!

Posted

Obviously a slow week on the Scully-front so these journos need to conjure up something out of their arse to sell a few papers.

The whole thing is starting to get ugly thanks to the media. I have no doubt if the club genuinely knew he was going, they wouldn't be playing him. If his "bruised knee" keeps him out for a while I'll be suspicious though.

I agree completely nutbean MFC cannot lose we either re-sign him at what is considered his value (Certainly not $1million per year) and have him play a role in a rising side (perhaps premiership side) or we let him go for two high value picks. The mfc doesnt need Scully to win ( It may be nice )but not essential. In fact there are others at the moment I would pay more money to.So as nutbean says lets relax enjoy the remainder od the season and let the cards fall. It is not the most important part of the season. That is the continued development of the Melbourne Football TEAM!!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
