Less yellow before the dye, but often more yellow than high quality butter until the butter has been exposed to air for some time and developed that rich yellow colour 😍 I'm hungry now

Try a butternut snap.

Yeah nah, not an option, OD. If I have to drag my sad n sorry [censored] up the steps to get on the plane, so be it. I’m not missing being at this match. I have only a mild case and I’ve done everything I can for the past week to get better. I’m going to Sydney no matter what.

The censored word starts with A and ends with SS

Can't wait!

Thanks Deeves 💕

I’ve had it once before, years ago and it was an awful experience. This time it’s way milder so I’m hoping to be ok to go to our opening round match. Fingers crossed. As well as…

I used to embarrass my much higher income brother because when he'd take me to some of Melbourne's elite restaurants I'd be asking for more bread every time a waiter was in sight. Premium bread with quality butter is my happy place.

In these adventures, once upon a time I had some of the world's best bread with some of the world's best butter.

You could tell. It was bliss.

On me. I’m NOT getting pinged $65 for exceeding the 7kg limit. First interstate match I attended was in Adelaide. Going home (we won that match 😁) the bag-weighing guy pulled me up for being 500g over and expected me to pay that ridiculous amount. So, right there in front of all and sundry I opened my case and proceeded to put all articles of clothing on, including three beanies. I looked like the Michelin Man but managed to not be slugged $65. Stick that up your Khyber, Jetstar 🤨

I'll come back to the recent foregoing in due course, for my regular dose of amusement and befuddlement, but I must report something I've discovered while researching for a puzzle (not for here; breathe easy!), that might fit the entry criteria of this thread:

Australia had never had a Prime Minister with a surname longer than 7 letters (7 of those, and 11 6s, 4 5s, and 5 4s). Until, that is, the last three in a row: TURNBULL, MORRISON, ALBANESE!

Curse inflation!

Well lets get back to the shorter names.

I note Dutton is 6 letters.

Noting earlier discussion on the matter, may I suggest this thread get in early and sponsor* BLAKE HOWES?

B and S are his Alpha and Omega.

You know what they say -- never complain about growing old, as many don't get the chance.

Anyone watching the second test from NZ on tv?

Lunch time day 4, Aust five down with 100 to win.

You'd think curators would look after the ground surface, maybe sweep the pitch, keep people off the grass... But no, spectators permitted all over the oval during lunch, kids bowling and running on the pitch. Amazing really.

Only 8,000 at ground, but a couple of hundred on the oval at the lunch break

Could this prove to be a transition as decisive and irreversible as the 'facial hair -> no facial hair' prime ministerial eras?

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road for their 3rd interstate game in 4 weeks as they face a fit and firing Crows at Adelaide Oval. With finals now out of our grasps what are you hoping from the Dees today?

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
