I think the Smith Curse is still with us.

Has any other club lost their most important player? Does any other club have the injury list we have? We lose a game we dominate with poor kicking while the other side can't miss. Similar the next week where we lose by a couple of points after leading with 2 minutes to go and gifting the last goal. Our players get the heaviest suspensions which cost one or both games lost. Ollie continues to dominate. Our so called stars are not starring. Injured players play against us and dominate. Gus injured again.

Etc.

So nothing has changed?

It is all about the next ALF season.

Is Greg venom Denim Malcolm Blight?

Anyone got a spare ruckman at home they don't need?

I think we're going about this the wrong way trying to find a ruck replacement.

let's just take out everyone else's ruckman.

Well a good win after a messy first half. Time to treat myself to a banana smoothie.

That first half was a shocker - I wonder what caused such terrible disposal from both sides.

There was no first half.

The AFL had an extended pre game show. Unfortunately there was no budget and press ganged the players instead in a very similar way the old 'footy show' of the sixties had a team a week doing a cabaret act that made Fitzroy St look like the Follies Bergere !!

There was only a 'shortened"  game thereafter....started after the Little league encore ;)

I think the air con was on in the stadium and it created a slight breeze.

I was informed by some self important little functionary in the second quarter of the Saints v Dees, when I asked for the air conditioning to be turned on as I was just about to collapse with heat apoplexy in the second quarter, that there was no such thing at Etihad. She ushered me into the St John Ambulance area where it was a fraction cooler at least. I expected to be revived by a gin and tonic taken orally. All I was offered was water. Appalling !!!!!!! No wonder we don't like Etihad !!!!

Btw..how did footy sneak in here

Entirely correct - there was no first half.  The little league started an hour early,  but eventually someone realised that they had a mixture of the keystone cops and the benny hill show out there, pulled them off and got the youngsters on, which improved the skill levels by  about 4000%. After that there were two quarters of AFL footy, and then everyone went home.

I recently queried my internet provider about some incorrect charges. Here is an excerpt from their reply.

"Our sincere apologies these errors has not been brought to light earlier and amounts had already erroneous been extracted for the uncancelled ADSL services. We will ensure these cancelled for future reference."

Well that's good .... I think.

Who was the provider? We should consult them on the deliberate out of bounds rule. They could probanly clear up the confusion.

Loved the story on the Tigers selections this week, saying they were decimated, as Prestia is out with Nankervis, who was suspended for one week.

Two players who weren't on the list last year out ( one for a week suspension ) and they are decimated. Wow!

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
