If a low number gives you the ability to play with confidence you are the definition of a fair weather player.

His groins are absolutely stuffed and I see he is out with a Groin from this weeks side.

He is a fair ordinary player not a crack but they are a dime a dozen his one attribute was his speed and that's shot by the groins as well

Bucks out again with 'Groin' What are they doing down there at collingwood?????

Obviously they don't spend enough on facilities etc ;)

And they reckon they're at the coalface of OP/groin strain prevention ! tsk tsk.

More trips to Arizona no doubt...

Probably just trying to avoid 6am visits by testers...

I gotta laugh when we're talking about Simon Buckley. Why? Didn't he eat chips with sauce at a game once?!

His groins are stuffed, he is a very average player and we have replaced him with much better players. If he wants to have a sook, he can go right ahead. I don't see Collingwood's coaches or facilities are helping his groins either. For someone who supposedly grew up a Melbourne supporter and is now playing for the reigning premiers, he sure is misguidedly bitter.

He obviously forgot to touch wood when giving that interview. What, they don't have wood at the westpac centre?

I fail to see how our 'facilities' were responsible for Simon Buckley being one of the worst decision-makers I have ever seen play for the Melbourne Football Club. You could pluck someone from the crowd and insert them into Collingwood's 22 at the moment and they'd look ok. Admittedly, Collingwood has a great recent track record of developing extremely average footballers into capable players in a strong side, but Buckley was rightly delisted by the MFC, and if he was still here he'd be in the gun again. It's going to be hard enough finding players to delist this off-season.

Yeah .Who cares about the facilities .North are still alive and have won a flag with rooms that looked like a London sewer in Dickensian times . I reckon all the hardships are already overcome by the club will make the DYNASTY all the sweeter .

Do we really need the ex-Hawks guy with all the tragic injuries? Fkn hate Hawthorn with all my heart and soul .Has a medal already ,[censored] run with injuries and is 5th in Line to ruck .Or is he a rookie too .

Rookie.

We delisted Simon Buckley so we could pick up Joel McDonald on the Pre-season draft. It doesn't give me confidence in those at the top to make smart decisions when under pressure

I likd Simon Buckley at Melbourne, and think he'd be an important contributor to our current side had injury not crippled his footy career. It looks like injuries are limiting at Collingwood too, but I hope he continues to do well.

Don't forget, he was a Demon supporter like us, till injury curtailed what I thought was a promising career.

I hope Co;;ingwood don't win the 2011 Flag. But if they do, I hope Simon's in the 22.

Sorry - didn't want to turn this into a list management thread - just replying to a couple of the delisting ideas. Thanks for the suggestions. According to Demonblog here: http://mfcdemonblog.blogspot.com/ of those LDC and Dawi mentioned, Newton, McNamara and Lawrence are all rookie listed (and don't count, as LDC mentioned), while Dunn, Spencer and Bate are on the books for next year. Which leaves you with Maric, Wonaeamirri and Warnock. I'm not putting these guys on the chopping block with 10 weeks to play - merely pointing out that we don't simply have complete wastrels to delist this year. The list is in very good shape for the future if developed well.

Lost track of the number of times I've pointed out that this is incorrect.

Newton was not an in-season rookie upgrade - he was permanently elevated to the senior list to replace Cameron Bruce, before the commencement of the season.

As a result, his delisting would count as one of the 3 needed.

Then, in my view, Newton is the first to go. Not his fault - he's just not quite good enough.

I wholeheartedly agree.

BUT

The reason that fact is often lost, is probably because the spotlight is stolen by the prospect of the rookie list being abolished in the new CBA, meaning the rules for list changes will be changed in some way.

It may remain 3 changes as a minimum, but rookies (or what were formerly rookies) will now come into play.

That puts Cam Johnstone, Kel Lawrence, Robbie Campbell, Tom MacNamara all in the gun.

You'd have to assume that Evans and Nicholson are safe.

Andrew Maher and Luke Darcy are out of a job now too .

Oh well , I guess they can go and talk %^&* at the pub now ,

like everyone else .

How many 'groins' does this guy have and if it's more than 1 I am very surprised any girlfriend of his would break up with him???

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
