I think there's also parallels with losing Gerard Healy. Clearly that was a comprehensive net loss for the club. Long before draft picks as compensation though.

Yes good point, i did forget about Gerard.

If you and the Tweed Pig and whoever else want to believe that what you read in the paper is an exact indication of what's going on, that's your prerogative.

Nowhere have I accused Tom Scully of being a liar.

Next ...

It's tacit, RR.

Far too many for my liking who just stroke each other’s ego's by agreeing on every issue which is discussed (rpfc/nasher/Artie etc etc). We all love the MFC but the sun doesnt shine out of it's arse!

It could be that we stroke each others egos (btw I wouldn't know Artie or rpfc if I tripped over their battered corpses in the street), or it could just be that we share similar views on most issues.

There are members on this forum who I agree with most of the time, members who I agree with sometimes and members who I rarely see eye to eye with. This is just what happens when you have a forum with a lot of diversity.

If it wasn't for differing opinions internet forums would be boring as bat s#it!! I like the fact that Range Rover isn't afraid to have a different opinion to the majority on here. Thank you DemonWA. If you deviate off a certain line there is a coterie in here that will shout you down. It's pathetic.

Yeah, that's the reason. You are heroically swimming against the tide of public opinion alone, all in an effort to show the world the error of their ways. I'm tripping over myself as I read the countless articles in the newspaper telling me that Scully is staying.

It's definitely not because you are calling Scully a liar.

I'm reminded of Monty Python.

"Help I'm being repressed!"

"See the repression inherent in the system!!"

So my position can be dismissed as rose coloured glasses?

not at all, your position is your position (and many one hear share the same position). I just find it refershing that Range Rover has an opinion that is different to the majority.

Your position is generally pretty realistic rpfc, not rose coloured glasses. If we're talking player development or on field success you're generally quite measured in your position/opinion. Which is why I’ve been a little surprised to see that you won’t entertain any discussions about Scully going to GWS? To me, not considering that Scully could choose the bigger pay packet is equivalent to some of our supporters expecting us to finish well inside the top 8 - it’s a view which is somewhat skewed by a love for the red and blue. Scully may stay and we might finish inside the 8! But just like those who don’t think we can make the eight are entitled to their opinions, so to should those who think scully might leave?

No, Rpfc' is the hero. I'm the villain. Get it right.

totally agree, but it can make for some boring topic when everyone shares the same views!! Granted this is a MFC site so we all share similar views to a point, but the reason this scully thread, and i guess the Jack Watts one too, have so many posts is becasue there is differing opinions which create conversations and debates. Bring it on i say!

all this talk makes me think we really haven't progressed very far since the sandpit at preschool.

we get it, you both have different viewpoints, neither are right or wrong.

all will be played out in the fullness of time.

I hope no idiot boos him while he wears a Demons jumper .

I don't want us to pay over the odds for him either .

He can sell his soul for years of failure .

Or stay with the future of success.

Why are we all believing that GWS have offered 5 million. Has anyone seen the offer. GWS wont confirm the offer of 5 million but there is an offer. Toms Management wont confirm the offer even to Tom. So who know's what it is. It may be 700,000. So until Tom makes a decision it is all still conjecture. It will probably still be conjecture because how could anyone believe what comes out of Allens mouth.

THe other line that was being discussed today was that Melbourne knows he has gone and has made it known that was what has been offered so that there is a stronger likelihood of higher compensation.

My strong belief is that if Tom decides to stay at Melbourne he will announce it before the end of the season.

Can anyone tell me when the other clubs can have a go at Sun's draft picks.

GWS will be a lot weaker than GC in their first year given that they have 2 years to recruit contracted players they will likely hold some salary cap reserve in wait of poaching players in their 2nd year. So watching the club embarrass themselves will be a joy and later on when their bloated salary cap brings a lot of players out of the unpopular felafel country.

Cameron Schwabb is at this moment dismantling the ox's arguements....Tom Scully has gone nowhere yet!!!

Is there a podcast for a poor country lad stuck in the middle of League land?

Fair point there longsuffering. Sheahans article had quotes saying the offers had been made, but only pure speculation as to the amount and length. And after reading about Schwabs comments saying they believed they could match the GWS offer, then perhaps the offer made wasn't as high as popular perception would have us all believe. Which makes me even happier, because I've always thought he would stay, and developments over the last 24hrs make it even easier for me to believe that.

Rojik, if you go to tunein you can listen to nearly any radio station on earth, live and free. It is the saviour for those of us living in places outside Melbourne.

The Carbon tax and the T Scully sagas, sick of it all!!

Certainly I would like him to stay, but if several mill are on offer to him, good luck to him I say.

I do think that the hype over him has become overwhelming and personally speaking I doubt he will be as good as they say he will.

His myth has taken on Messiah like status, I certainly don't want Melbourne to bust the bank over him at the expense of our other LOYAL young players I believe him to be an early developer with dodgy knees!!

We don't want to be in another debt demolition, while filling his pockets.

For what its worth GWS have taken over from my long time hatred of the Bombers to be my number one object of loathing!!

He will suffer there with his millions and he won't get his fulfilment on the footy field playing in front of a small crowd who has hasn't a clue whats going on and don't really care!!

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
