Rubbish!

It's all about Development $$$$$$.

And war.

And Richmond is in there somewhere.

You have a serious problem - GC17 have spent $$$$$ developing him we are spending more money these days on development. The club has recognised what its "fans" cant.

If you cant understand what is happening no problems - stick to your "politics" we can stick to the footy.

Cheers

I'm still trying to work out what exactly "$$$$$$$" means.

Is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ greater than $$$$$$$$$?

It depends whether development is before the word AND if it is capitalised...

Back to the topic - Thomas Lynch - throw the kitchen sink at him. Good VIC boy that worth every $$$$$$$$ we would have to spend on him.

Clark at full-forward/ruck Lynch at CHF/FF - Jurrah & Howe 3rd tall or moving around ground as outside mid to expose teams 3 rd tall.

PS Just to help call it the "Cloke" role at Collingwood. GC are developing him well and currently using him as CHB as a teaching process.

Would you plan on having Watts anywhere?

Tom Lynch would be a valuable assett for the club. Somehow i dont think GC would part with him. It would also allow Watts and Cook to play elsewhere. We need a tall backman to play on the tall gorilla's. Do they have the body size tho

For sure - long-term you would have roles for both Watts & Cook. But I'm not sure Cook is up to it yet - but hopefully he fills the "Dawes" Role.

But the first steps in the development are to teach them multi-tasking. Long-term I would like to see Watts play the complete around the ground role - almost "Goddard" ish but used more forward than Goddard.

Cook would be developed to play the Dawes Role. Clark would be the resting ruckman one-one forward - but you must again develop this into him. He needs to learn how to be a more effect forward. Hence invest the TIME now.

The "gorilla" point is very good. Think this is where you really on the ruckman falling back into the whole and kill his space. Hopefully "gorillas" are things of the past.

Think we are in good hands with Frawley/McDonald & Garland. Long-term.

It was quite clear yesterday that we lacked a big marking forward. When our midfielders looked up they either had no one to kick to or an out numbered medium sized green, sylvia, jurrah ect to kick to.

Not only were Collingwood dominating the stoppages, they also had great merking targets to kick to in their forward line.

Now, i believe that we do have a couple of players on the list that could fill this void in the future...but this will be 3 years away. We need to target a player to fill the void straight away. Now some will say this will take games and opportunity away from some of the younger kids...but i ask you this...are our kids unable to play to our game plan because we don't have all the pieces of the puzzle?

I'm no expert on the lower leagues, so people, please throw up some suitable players that could play this KPF role for us till Watts, Cook, Fitzpatrick are ready to take over.

I for one would love to see us target Jessie White, or to a lesser extent Fevola.

Develop our Forwadline before we build a really hard working Topline Defence/Midfield,,, And we may shoot ourselves in the foot.

Human nature for most,, to only work as heard as required to get he job done. Nothing more.

It's my theory that teams sit back & do just enough, when they're dominant forwards dominate H&A games, & then when the schitt has hit the fan, there is no more left.

IMO reams of the past which have had dominant forwards, 1 or 2, sometimes still lose to the stronger Team.

Obviously a stronger side must be a hardworking Unit, who work really hard to win the ball & keep the ball,, or take the ball off the opposition.

The defenders will work together as a Unit & individually to spoil all the hard work of the opponents delivery. cut out the Opp' forward supply & you've 3/4, got them covered.

I think it's best to have the Defence & Midfield mature ahead of the Forward zone.

Yes exactly - How good would we be if we could interchange McDonald & Lynch at will - what a bonus. GC are paying for developing Lynch now.

Clark, Watts, Cook, McDonald, Martin, Sheahan. If we want to throw some cash around to me we would be better looking for quality mids, I think we will find what we are looking for in this draft along with the development of what we have.

I personally would be concerned with the time & making the same mistakes again going to the draft for talls. I much prefer going to the trade table for talls (& for a quality ready made mid as well now to mention it) - we need balance in our recruitment process. Sure take a few kids but not all kids.

Cook, McDonald, Martin, Sheahan. - although they are talls "jury" is still out on nearly every one of them.

The change hasn't done any of the other Geelong rejects any good. Prismall? Gamble? Mumford's about the only one that always had potential but didn't get an opportunity.

Hawkins doesn't have potential, and has had ample opportunity in an amazing side.

Good call dic...oh hang on, that was me that posted that.

Amazing that talls do actually take time haha, i definitely thought Hawkins wasnt as good as hyped, showed quite alot late last year, lets hope one of Watts Cook or Sheehan ect can come good within 2-3 years :)

I wonder if this buys any of our forwards a break on demonland...... nah dont be silly

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
