I saw the Batram in for Nicholson as what many of us expected - the importance of Clint to the team.

Before the game I advocated for Bartram's inclusion so I'm with you there, but I would have thought Evans was the one to replace.

If it were up to me, I would give Blease a few games. Not sure about throwing Tapscott straight back in.

+1

I'd very much like to see Blease debut and wouldn't be surprised if he comes in very soon.

I'm also unsure about Tapscott coming straight back in, hence listing him fourth, but I see him as in our 2011 best 22.

Jamar can sit in the goalsqaure for a few weeks. Petterd has done his time. Garland is required back there.

Out - Gawn, Jetta, Nicholson

Nicholson was replaced by Bartram, remember.

Swap Nicholson with Evans and I'm with you, though.

I made it down to the Dees training session today. Jamar did the full session and looked great. I'm sure he will play this weekend.....

The 'outs' can't comprise Nicholson because he didn't play on Monday!

Oh, yeah!

Un-confused.

Evans out then.

I believe both Frawley and Jurrah are playing with niggling injuries. I would like to see both of them tough it out, I know that one is doing a better fist of it than the other but he has to work through it.

Keep him in the team.

Yeah, Frawley was already carrying, but he was hurt badly early in the QB game.

I think half the reason Rivers was left on Cloke for so long, was because we were trying to protect Chip.

Jurrah is being held together by pieces of sports tape, at the moment.

Jamar I would love back, but Martin and Gawn seem to be holding their own, and will do fine against an Sandi-less Fremantle.

Yeah nah but....

Moloney is not getting the accurate delivery he gets from Jamar. Too many of our glut of tap-outs end up in the opposition hands.

Speaking of accuracy, Foxel had Dees V Filth Rnd 8 1998 on last night. Jimmy's delivery was sublime - that's what you call a ruckman!!

I am struggling with the above FdD

We get belted by 88 points and the only changes are 2 injured players!

Surely there must be a couple of others who do not deserve a game.

Right there with you.

We are talking about a footy team, not EA Sports Fantasy AFL, if there was such a thing (so wish there was!).

Drop Howe, who is contributing more than most to the twos for development reasons?!

He's developing fine where he is.

Agree Watts got 25+ games surely we can afford 3 in a row for Howe.

It's also about who deserves to come in and which players will give us the best chance of winning on Sunday.

So all of the other 22 showed on monday they were the ones to beat Freo!

Rubbish, when you get beaten by 88 points there must be a large number who did not pull their weight.

And remember Freo are not bunnies it could easily be another Eagles result.

In: Jamar, Petterd, Nicholson

Outs: Gawn, Jetta (inj), Bennell

Jamar plays >50% game time from the goal square to give us structure up forward and relieve some of the pressure on Jurrah and co

Petterd to play HFF and rotate through the midfield. Straight swap for Jetta

Nicholson is a straight swap for Bennell who I believe was worst on ground on Monday. Nicholson has the pace and I believe can play a similar role to Bennell with more defensive pressure.

Garland is a possibility if fully fit and it would be a toss the coin Strauss/Morton who would make way

Very tempted to add Green to the 'out' list as his form has been terrible this year.

Does anyone know if he is carrying an injury that would explain his form slump?

I can't reconcile this.

Jamar in, but Martin and Gawn stay?

I think Gawn will need to go back to Casey.

Jetta was injured, not sure about Bartram.

If so, both of those outs are sound.

I'd bring in Nicholson in that case.

I'd rest Jurrah, in favour of giving Cook his first match.

Keen to give Blease a game soon too.

I'd consider Evans.

I know Jones got 25 touches and 6 tackles, but he frustrated me no end on Monday.

His handballing was painful.

Green was horrible too, but neither will be dropped.

In summary...

IN: Jamar, Nicholson, Petterd, Cook, Blease.

OUT: Gawn, Jetta (inj), Bartram (inj), Jurrah, Evans.

If the club thinks he has played enough to jump back into AFL, Garland should come in.

No idea who for, on balance. Rivers had a shocker, but I don't think we should drop him.

Maybe to come in instead of Blease.

No way is Blease ready. Disposal is iffy and he doesn't have defensive skills yet.

Dont agree Old Dee

Freo are pretty much bunnies without Sandilands. losing Mundy and Balentyne will hurt them too. Not saying we're better than them, but they are'nt that good, especially at the G

So after a 88 point belting do you only want to replace the 2 players that are injured?

That was what FdD was suggesting.

I can think of 5 players that did not justify their spot in the team.

Would love to see Jones and Morton dropped (for Nicholson & Dunn respectively), but unfortunately it won't happen.

This is what I think is likely to happen:

- Jetta (inj) for Petterd

- Bartram/Strauss (dep on Bartram injury) for Garland

- Gawn for Jamar (if fit)

I know there's talk of Tapscott but I suspect they'll give him a week at Casey to prove his fitness.

Surely there must be a couple of others who do not deserve a game.

We got belted by last years premiers who have flogged most teams they have played this year by an average of 50 points. We played them with a team that has 992 less games experience in its players.

We still need to get players games experience so if the there are 2 injured why not replace them with 1 in from player Petterd and play him in the midfield and Jamar if he is fit to play 70-75% of the game to get back match fitness. Gawn can ruck with Jamar and I would put Steff either forward as a tall marking option or in defence where he was playing prior to Jamar going down.

I would have Blease in incase Jamar is not fit, and that is only because I want to see him play. lol So I hope that explains my thinking for you.

But hey its only my opinion others may not agree. happy.gif

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
