Supporting the MFC has taught me one thing. No expectations means no disappointments. I really didn't think 2011 would be such a disaster. I was hoping to be posting threads on how far away the top 4 is for us or dare I say it how far away is a flag. But 2011 is done and dusted for us I think. So for the rest of this year and next year I'm having no expectations i'm just going to go to the footy and see what happens. Bad luck to flash and the rest of the list who are all injured.

It's horrible he requires surgery and hope he recovers quickly but I wasn't having a go at him because of a injury. Its because of mutiple pea heart efforts over many years. His knee was fine when he was handballing in front of himself during the st kilda game. Hereally should be the one apologising to his team mates for the lack of effort.

I'll apologise.

Clearly had been playing on with a crook knee.

I learnt at a young age to have the no expectations policy with the demons but i got sucked into all the expectation the club was selling over summer and now i am disappointed.

Please be fearless in providing the answers too. ;)

It is not for me, or anyone on this forum, to provide answers. Rather, as a stakeholder in the club, I am entitled to ask the questions. Again, as quoted in the article,

The club hoped that with a short rest period, Davey’s knee would settle enough for him to keep playing. But this hasn’t been the case and surgery was deemed the appropriate action.
For any professional football club, I find that to be an astonishing admission.

Im still rather curious as to the notion he was playing with such a dodgy knee, if that was the case.

Oh..hang on..incoming :: " All players have some injuriess...blah blah blah "

Either he had an injury thats been incorrectly assessed...not good.

or he was deemed fit to play.

Theres an old adgae; Once you cross that line you give 100%

shame Aarons injured

Bigger shame he hasnt been giving 100%

carry on !!

Really??? I would have thought that with the assessment of injuries, their extent and treatment that there can be a considerable issue of uncertainty in the diagnosis. But its not necessarily an issue of professionalism thats at stake.

By all means ask the brave questions but spare us the longbows in speculation.

At least someone connected to the club is being fearless, even if it's just one of us warriors of the keyboard variety demon_rolleyes.gif

I must be really dumb, but I have no idea what you're talking about, nor the point you are trying to make and your seeming need to make a point for a point's sake.

Now,................................ back to my bagel and Sav Blanc.

Again, I'm not a medico, but I would have thought there is a patently obvious and quantum difference between a " a short rest period" to "surgery was deemed the appropriate action", which now sees Davey sidelined for 6 to 8.

Just asking the question, that is all!!!!!!!!!!!??????????

I'm not a doctor, a physio or an orthopedic surgeon, but to me it sounds like they thought it was a jarred knee with maybe some minor meniscal damage, kept him playing and got him to see the surgeon late last week. The club doctors probably thought it could settle down with a week or 2 rests. The surgeon probably reviewed the MRI and thought surgery was a better option. The problem here is delay in seeing the surgeon. Maybe if you were a US NFL team you would have you might have better access, but here is probably wiser to wait until you can get access to the expert.

The change for a short rest and surgery is probably the expert surgeons opinion. The club doctors are very good, but at the end of the day they can only really say when things are very bad or perfectly fine. They can't always recommend surgery, due to the fact that they aren't surgeons.

The other thing to take into account is that if it was a grand final you could probably get away with playing him if you could control the pain and take the risk of damage.

Agreed Master and you are probably spot on, but the "delay" in referring it to a surgeon - if that is indeed the case - would be a worry if true. The club has ample access to the Ortho surgeons

Agreed your not a medico so it could not patently obvious of the reasons for change.

So why the emphasis on "professional" if you were just asking a question?

What years the sav blanc and what region?

I did not say is was "patently obvious" in terms of the reasons to change the diagnosis, rather, it is self-evident that there has been a significant delay in making such a diagnosis.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
