I know he still lives in Carindale (Qld) but you always have hope and as a Dees supporter hope is what we have had for a very, very long time.

I was at the '71 GF mate, i have followed Lethal's career quite closely, met him once in an elwood cafe just as he was about to start at Brisbane-really nice guy.

But he has achieved all he wants, now he is happy to pass on to the younger Gen. Dean able to mentor Lethal once a month is a great thing....i am sure he has learnt a lot from his childhood Hero.

This knowledge he has gained since last year and his own learning will no doubt help his cause for another contract, if the club continues to grow....Bring on Tonight.

You managed to extrapolate that it was a failure on his behalf yet if the man didn't mention it himself you would be none the wiser, i've done a search of your posts and failed to find one where you said that it would have been a good idea to play watts on Goddard. Get your blinkers off mate, and give the bloke a break. One thing in life I cant stand is people who sit on the fence and take pot shots rather than putting it on the line. I too am yet to be convinced whether he can take us even further, though thus far he has ticked most boxes for me. The remaining rounds will determine where to for Dean.

You'll tell us in great detail how bad the 1st qtr against WC was but apparently you had some sort of concussion during the Adelaide game and you don't remember a thing

We've beaten no one of consequence. You mention the WC game. What about the Hawthorn game. Had they kicked straight they would have one by 120 points. Then there's the capitulation against North after they handed us 5 early goals. Watch the replay and 5 of our 6 goals came from uncontested errors from North. Against the Saints we saw possibly the worst game of AFL played this year. Adelaide were woeful and are in for an ordinary year, hardly anything to write home about. I'm not crying I just don't see a team with a winning plan or winning attitude. I know we have the talent but it's time for the next level of coaching department. I'll ask you this. Would you be happy to say goodbye to Bailey if one of Roos or Malthouse was available? Don't worry, I know your answer.

By the way if that's great detail regarding the WC game you should read more.

I know as much as you do Ox, what i do know is how much work has been done.

This club was shot when Bailey took over. And if Dean still has the same attitude today in that article, as he did when he took over, i respect that.

Dean will make his own future i believe in the next 3 months. There are a lot of coaches on the rocks at the end of this year.

Rodney Eade has less chance of coaching in 2012 than Dean Bailey. That i do know. Everything else is yet to unfold.

LM has won on the big day as a player and coach. He took over the Bris list when they were at a similar stage to the Dees. He would bring consistency, hardness and passion to the group. I could be wrong but it would be nice to find out.

I didnt say a flag in 4 years but consistency, passion and hardness would be nice after that period of time.

I'm pretty sure that those coaches inherited an embarrassment of riches when compared to Bailey, in terms of senior players and leaders.

Malthouse didn't have to go through the same kind of rebuild we did.

Thompson at Geelong is probably comparable.

Bailey has done the hard things at this club from the moment he arrived and this at the cost of his own situation. The delisting of Bruce and McDonald last year was nothing short of brave.That fate has taken two of his best midfielders for most of the first half of the season and now claimed 12 players to serious injury and suspension in three weeks just as those two midfielders look like returning is depressing.The torch bearers will be up in arms but with Davey, Jamar, Scully, Trengove, Bail, Garland, Grimes, Bartram, Dunn and Tapscott unavailable this week and backup ruckman Spencer (and Fitzpatrick) also unavailable we should get a belting. That we should find ourselves in this position with our three most public performances in front of us is cruel indeed.IMO it is impossible to judge both Bailey and our club at the moment, we are simply not being correctly represented.Bailey has my full support and this article helps to show why. He is a man of courage and conviction.

A most insightful post

I didn't expect much in the way of results this season. What i did expect to see was the club implementing a far more defensive game plan to suit where football is at today. I also expected to see some more heat in the contest and more willingness to hit the pack so to speak. We can talk development all we like, that's what assistant coaches are for. It's Bailey's job to get the team to play to a winning formula with the required intent. I have not seen that this year. If you want to excuse him thanks to a HS article go right ahead. I'll bide my time until Jimmy announces our next coach.

Not impossible, but difficult to get consistent pressure and structure from kids.

Bailey played the MFC game through 2008 and 2009 to get some picks. Only fair to give hime time to develop the team. I'm not convinced he has no game plan, a, b, or c. I do know his team is not ready.

To the clowns who wanted more exapmles of strange moves.. How about Watts to the roaming backman role ( in itself fine ) but without any covering of the missing forward ?? Brilliant tactic.. One of his best to date...Bravo

I think that what a lot of people are overlooking here (or losing sight of) is the fact that like our young team, as a new coach Bailey is also learning the caper on the fly - don't forget, we were the pariah's of the competition not so long ago and already we are getting more positive attention. By using the likes of Lethal in a mentoring role, Bailey will continue to improve just as he will by recognising and admitting his errors of judgement as he did in the Watts/Goddard comments.

He has been slowly and unerringly building this team and I get the feeling that if we are to become a "dynasty" over the next few years, then this is precisely what we need... a complete unit that has grown together.

Living in a house that is 50% Demon & 50% Cat I can't help but see the similarities of the Cats circuit 2004 - 2006

The unproven coach who looks like he is going nowhere, the early draft picks all coming through together, supporters

doubting if some of them where wasted picks & of course the massive supporter back lash from success starved fans about how long this process is taking.

When The Dee's beat the Cats @ skilled in 2006 & ended there season no one in there wildest dreams would of

seen the 2007 premiership coming.

This success will happen when we least see it coming.

Hang tough, history says our turn to shine is not as far away as it looks right at this point of time.

I know the first post in this thread was a while ago, but the fact they record the audio from the coaches box is pretty interesting. It'd be great to synch up to a replay of the game; I'd love to have that as an audio track on my Demons premiership DVD.

To the posters who can't get their point across without resorting to personal insults, if you actually bothered to read or listen to the reasoning behind that move, it made sense, unfortunately the forwards let everybody down by not staying with the structures.......if it had worked everybody would be jumping up and down saying what a brilliant coach.....if any of the posters on here hiding behind a nickname are a premiership coach in any form of the game, can you please let us know.......Supercoach excepted of course.....ah so there's the problem...
