Favourite moment from today's match?

Quite a few for the highlight reel today and a good time to reflect on a favourite.

For me it was Jonesy's last goal for sure. Shrugging off a couple of would-be tacklers, dummy side step and fires it through from just inside the arc. Beautiful stuff.

Trenners taking the hit to set up a goal. Magic from a young player.

I'll second that. Awesome effort.

It was a good goal. The only downside is he'll think he can do it every week and that's the problem. He'll get tackled every other week. He needs to play to his strengths.

I agree that over-confidence has been his downfall in the past, but lately his determination to win contests and break tackles seems to be paying dividends.

Seems to happen that way. When things go your way...well, things go your way.

Add a third to that one. Already showing signs of fantastic leadership and sheer class.

Massive fan of the diving smother by Brad Green. Felt his 1%ers set the tone a fair bit today. Great leadership from the captain.

Beautiful kick. I was sitting at the top of the ponsford right behind the goals and initially it looked like missing but the ball curved in flight. He sure can kick it. There was another kick where he transfered it across the ground and off two steps it must have gone 60 metres easy.

Not sure about favourite but Baters goal was sort of funny. He had such a shocker that i had to think he was better of trying not to use his hands.

The most ineffective player on the ground for Melbourne still having the desire to smash the opposition and LAY THREE CONSECUTIVE HARD CRUNCHING TACKLES.

That to me shows the team attitude is spot on, regardless of how good or bad you are playing.

THAT IS THE MINIMUM STANDARD WE EXPECT.

1. Green's goal and subsequent celebration. Not sure if anyone else saw this, but it made Big Jimmy get out of his seat for a prolonged period and give a passionate fist pump to those around him.

2. Jones' goal.

3. Tappy's goal. I'm in love with this guy.

4. Trengove's goal assist right at the end. Not many players capable of that.

5. Sylvia's 2 in 2 mins.

The first 5 minutes. Danners would have said "we came to play" but that would simplify it too much. We dominated the clearnaces from the get go, Petterd looked dangerous straight away and the ball wasn't coming out of our forward half easily.

Bate early in the 1st Qtr, backing back into the marking contest, got smashed, but set the tone for the team. Was down for a minute but got up and played well. Great example of committment.

There were too many!

I did like Trengove riding the bump and dishing off, while Tapscott's long goal was great.

However, Sylvia kicking his second goal of the quarter was probably my favourite moment.

Watts had some opportunities to create my favourite moment but couldn't get the job done - he's a 'nearly' man at the moment.

and played well.

I'm not sure about this bit.

I liked that, yeah.

It possibly got overtaken due to it being early on, but Watts' pack mark and goal definitely meant alot.

Either that or Jamar's over the back tap to Moloney to Sylvia for a goal from the center bounce.

I was super impressed with that. If it's the same one I'm thinking of it happened in the last few plays of the game. He played pretty badly, but by gee it wasn't for a lack of trying, and may have been one of the more impactful 6 possession games I've seen from a non-defender. I saw him get involved a bit, and thought he's not doing a lot but is putting in. I was shocked to see he only had it 6 times.

My favourite? Hearing the MMM boys describe Sylvia's second in 30 seconds as "Harlem Globetrotter" stuff... Jamar smacks it to Moloney, Moloney chips to Sylvia, Sylvia goals... It's stuff like that that sends a chill down the spine of even the best sides. I remembered for the first time this year. This team can play.

I think Sylvia Saint would argue 2 minutes. We have to wait for Channel 7 coming back from the break....

;)

yeah greens celebration after goal in the 3rd grabbed the emblem on the jumper you could tell it means a lot 2 him sent a shiver up my spine

A lot of the credit for that goal goes to Jack Watts, who put a perfect, prolonged shepherd on the goal line, it would certainly have been touched otherwise as it went through at hip height

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
