The age article

Bit of a nothing article about how we must bounce back but this is the most important bit -

At the risk of self-indulgence, can I possibly put to bed, once and for all, one of those questions that has been repeatedly thrown up, and answered, over the past eight months.

I do not have any desire to pursue a career in coaching. I have not been asked, I don't expect to be and I would not consider it if I was. Coaching consumes so much of your time, and ties you to the world of football 24/7. I admire enormously those with the passion to undertake the role. I don't have it.

Now, everytime some muppet on here says "bring garry back to coach", please send them to this thread and hopefully they will go "oh yes, I am a muppet."

Most of us on this forum already know Lyon will not coach an AFL seniors team let alone Melbourne

Its driven by ill informed supporters and media people who like to write fantasy stories of favorite sons and knights in shining armor

There are quite a few obvious coaches in waiting but Garry Lyon is not one of them

I had to laugh when footy classified showed the Malthouse/Roos/Lyon newspaper article for possible Dees coaches and Caro quipped "4 premierships between you Garry."

Amazed to see The Age has 3 pages in succession on MFC today. Caro, Lyon, Flanagan and Pierik all with a piece.

These articles are just getting worse.

Re-hashing the same garbage and going back as far as last year to try and dig out as much dirt as possible.

Bloody James Hird has created a problem for Lyon.

It doesn't matter how many times he denies it, there will be peanuts out there who believe Garry is just biding his time.

Boom tish! Good line from Caro.

We're an easy target.

I'd like to see us rectify that, but playing like we did against West Coast doesn't help our cause at all.

Correct. We have earned the media attention for the wrong reasons.

Was never a possibility in my eyes. Likes to observe/comment from the outside and occasional advice to the club when asked, but never had the desire to coach. Don't know what all the fuss was about. Peeps looking for our savior i guess...

I think we partially deserve the media attention, but I do love how we got it this week and so many other teams went under the radar, see NM, the Saints, Port.

I am hoping the media attention makes the players and coaching staff pull their fingers out though.

I do love how much people are talking up richmond though (I know they are having a dip) however they only beat the lions, as we did, but everyone talked up how good they were against the lions while we were disappointing.

When we battle hard and have a fightback and draw against the swans or just beat brisbane, it is disappointing and lucky while other teams have a disappointing game and win by a small margin but the media spins it to be a great fightin victory.

I think we are just being bashed because people thought we would be going better (i too hoped that but am more realistic) than we are, depsite the fact we are still a young team and really should be looking at a position of 8th to 10th this year.

People forget that Lyon has been out of AFL football as a player or in an official status, coach, FD etc for 12 years. A bit long in the tooth for starters. Tim Watson has had more recent AFL coaching experience.

Isn't he coaching the AIS Under 18's, or something like that? Can't remember exactly what it is...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
