Footy Favourites (VFL Approved) on the Studio One label - there's no year on it, but I vaguely recall it being gifted to me in 1977.

I really don't think it was an accident to finish this album with Templeton's rendition of "Who's Sorry Now" by the way.

For just a fleeting moment I felt like Indiana Jones as he held the Holy Grail in his hands in Raiders 3.

Can anyone help me out with the details of the song, possible titled (informatively) 'Football song', that includes the lines

(Something about still seeing your face in the crowd)

Cos it's football season, and that's the reason

Yep, got this. It's called "The Football Song" and was the common B Side to all the classic Fable club theme song singles of the 60s and early 70s. As with all the theme songs it was performed by "The Fable Singers" and arranged in a very similar style with banjo and a big brass section.

Here we go:

When the football season comes around again

and the fans are swarming to the grounds again

there's a kind of fever

that keeps us on our toes

hear the fans a-roaring

as the whistle blows

Though it's boring

still you never throw in the glove (sic!)
