Future Captain - Jack Viney

Featured Replies

Posted

Just heard who I think will be a future leader of our Club - Jack Viney. He spoke amazingly for a 16 year old and more importantly said how much it would make his Dad proud if he played with the "Dees". I loved the way he talked about the Club as the "dees". It made me feel that he already feels part of the Club.

This site is getting comically ridiculous these days...

All good fun though...

I heard Lynden Dunn was sighted having a cuddle with his two-week old son prior to our game against the Swans. The fact that young Emmet is so quick to travel to the 'G to watch his dad must mean he bleeds red n' blue. Future captain right there.

Also, I should get a prize if this actually occurs.

OK, 2 boiled eggs to the winner.

Jack Watts spoke impressively at his first presser. Scully was impressive a few weeks back at his presser. The extension of which is patently obvious: Jack Viney will cops heaps for not living up to his potential and will then leave for GWS after eight weeks at Melbourne, citing "a new challenge after giving Melbourne great service" as his reason for leaving.

omg woeful thread

The only thing he's certain of is being our first good father-son player since Barassi.

If it happens feel free to track me down and I'll give you one.

Just because we don't draft THICK Campbell Brown type doesn't make them Captain material BTW how many captains can you have in 3-4 years time ?

Why do so many on this site insist on nominating "future captains". It is like a freaking curse. As soon as a player is crowned "future captain" they immediately lose their capacity to kick the footy. We are now guaranteed that J. Viney will dispose of the pill by foot in the same scattergun fashion as his old man. I was hoping for better.

I hereby nominate Jack Grimes & Aaron Davey to never assume the ultimate leadership mantle. I will be satisfied if they consistently hit the target they're actually aiming for.

46 ODD-WHOLE PLAYING LIST.

RUDDY RIDICULOUS THREAD-

No player since I've been on here (2004-ish I think) has come CLOSE to getting the "future captain" tag as much as one particular man... and this should serve as a lesson to those picking future captains every time they see a player string three words together:

Brock McLean.

(PS, Jack Grimes is catching up quickly)

Why do people write this rubbish?

I blame the changes to the game...;P

To stop the curse from spreading I nominate myself as the future captain for life. :)

So any future captains mentioned here must nominate me, that should solve any problems....

But seriously, many player have great leadership in different forms, the skill is taking on that weight and still play good footy. As Green on the TV at half time, is impression on how a captain should be on the field is/was affecting his game play. There is the real skill in it.

Yes but I will not be around to supply it, perhaps I could leave you a prize in my will.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
