I believe Fevola could become a sensational Full forward for the Dees. He has shown glimpses of it over his journey however feel this could be on the cards for the future.I refer to Barry Hall , runner up for the Coleman with 80 goals as an example. And a far better fit that Serhart Temel whom two years ago,I suggested we should recruit. If he went to Casey, got his body and mind fit, became a strong member of the club, then I believe he could play for the Dees on a one year contract.He has just turned 30 ,Hall is 34, so may have 4/5 strong years ahead of him in senior football. Again, it is in my opinion,he is the type of player we need to fit the bill in our team. Yes, booze and gambling are his downfall, however as in 2008 when he completely went of alchohol,he had a sensational year.He could become the cheapest & best recruit ever.And the Oz could also help him with his gambling problem. Great encouragement for him to at least try out with Case as a prelude. What do you think?

I strongly disagree- with the AFL (Andrew Demetriou) strongly encouraging him to play VFL ffotball, and willing to help and support him, Casey already offering him a jumper ,then all we would have to do is sit back and see how he performs personally and on the park. He is a cancer on any football club. 2 playing groups can testify to it. I'd be very dissappointed in the club if they considered recruiting Fev, and it won't happen because it goes against our recruiting philosophy of building a team through the draft. 31 year old trouble-making bad influences are not wanted!

That's pure lip service from Demetriou who would no doubt like Fev to crawl under a big rock and disappear. But I was really surprised Casey offered him a jumper. I find that a very strange decision. What would be the point? It just denies players like Fitzpatrick and Cook crucial development time playing out of the square, not to mention bringing a disruptive influence into the change room.

If Fev is genuinely keen to improve himself let him spend a year with Reach devoting his time to people who really are down on their luck. Young people with no money, few opportunities and addiction issues. Might bring a bit of perspective into his life.

He needs his ego well and truly punctured.

As seductive as the prospect of him at FF is - Sylvinator is right; he is a cancer on the mores of a club.

We decided to go down a long term plan for long term success only two years and three seasons ago.

Quick fixes like taking a gamble on Fevola is not a prudent move.

Everyone loves to repeat what Schwab and Stynes say - that we are at 'Basecamp.' But we are then going to put in jeopardy all that we have put in place by getting a drunken, lout of a Sherpa to help us and crossing our fingers he isn't a massive distraction?

He is exactly what we need (on-field) and would provide the big forward target and get out of jail kick we desperately lack. Having him plonked at FF would mean players like Dunn, Green, Jurrah and Watts would have a bit more freedom as they wouldn't be the focal point and Fev would take the best defender. I think it is pie-in-the-sky stuff in terms of actually happening but I also think the club would be negligent in their duties if they didn't consider all options. NO WAY! i like our youth policy approach, the young team of mates who have bonded will win us the premiership, not some hasbin gambling addict

the likes of trengove, scully(hopefully), gysberts watts, jurrah they'll win the cup for us!

Even if we DID take Fevola...he would have to be on an extremely strict contract. He would not be allowed to drink alcohol or gamble.

Besides, how would you be able to completely change his personality?

I really find it hard to believe that Fevola could magically "change his ways" and end up being a Melbourne player.

He's better off taking a chance as a punter in the NFL....

Having said that....our forward line would be very potent if we had Fevola, Jurrah, Watts, Dunn, Petterd etc.

It's a tantalizing but unrealistic prospect.

However, if anybody could set Fevola on the right track it would be Jim Stynes.

That would be exactly what Michael Voss thought last year...& look what happened.

Let Fev do some work at REACH with Jimmy, that's the closest i want Brendon at MFC. He will not play AFL again.

He had a poor season last year and is coming back from some pretty serious injuries. Let alone where his head is at the moment. Let alone that he is over 30.

Punters are bit players. a 21st or 22nd player in an AFL team. No way will any team touch a problem manchild when they are just bit players.

Yeah, I get it. Imagewise, the AFL can't be seen to be kicking a man when he's down so they've given him the green light to play in the VFL.

The focus on our team's culture has been a big part of our rebuilding, and I just can't see us taking a personality like Fev's no matter how talented he may be. We have what's pretty close to a team of golden boys, and that's not by chance (just have a look at almost any other club) so while I feel sorry for Fev and wish him all the best in battling his addictions, I don't see his influence (especially seeing he would be our oldest player) being something Stynes and Schwabb would welcome.
