I have heard stated before that Sylvia spent his junior days with his coaches telling team mates to kick the ball to him at all costs. Due to this Sylvia had to learn at AFL level how to hunt the football and hunger for the contest. I get the impression that in some ways the same applies to Jack. I expect a bit more consistency from Jack next season with some more moments of realising his talent but probably just as many steps back. I dont expect he will be in the team on merit at all occasions and would not be suprised to see him returned to Casey at times to work on components. This does not mean he is not progressing in his development but moreso similar to Jack Riewoldts development this may be required to make him the best player he can be not now but in years to come.

Watts already works extremely hard in games, for proof go to footywire.com and compare his stats for 'at the same age' to any other key forward currently playing. He is way in front and he's only going to get better.

I was one of the few here who wasn't sold on him before the draft, but now I'm well and truly converted. Just wait till his bofy fully matures, then we'll see what he's really capable of, until then he's just competing his apprenticeship.

If you remember three or four years ago on this forum people constantly labeled Green as "soft" and even wanted trade him. Now he is often "suicidal" in his approach to a marking contest and we gasp at his brave and selfless acts. This must have taken enormous mental courage in his part to make this transition. These things happen to people at different times in their lives or careers. Hopefully JW will get there. What is interesting about all this is that we are asking very young people to take risks and do things that very few of us would be prepared to do.

I know you put a limit on games but I still think Cornelius should make the list. He's a good young full forward (another part of the Fevola story is that this guy is missing out on senior games which is a shame for his development).

Love the use of the word Laconic.....

Give him and his teammates another 18 months to develop and learn how to use their assets and they will be on a real march up the ladder.

It's amazing that people have an opinion that Watts is lazy and highlight it on training reports. I'm sure if he was lazy the coaches and team mates would be right up him. Pre-season is about getting players ready for the next season. The most important part is keeping them on the track and managing work loads. Each player will have targets to acheive per session and don't expect all players to be working at 100%. What I have seen from the training sessons this year is the club is focussed on managing work loads to ensure we have a healthy list in Feb.

Be happy most of our list is training with the main group we will need this once the real competitive stuff starts after christmas.
