Article on afl.com.au by Josh Mahoney, just giving a rundown on each player on the list in relation to season 2010 and their entry into the preseason.

Nothing of great depth, but I picked out a few interesting/promising details (to me anyway).

Lynden Dunn

His second half of the year was very good. He played a defensive forward role for us which showed what a great goalkicker he is. He adds some flexibility to our team and with the new substitute rule he is going to be an important part of our side.

Addam Maric

He developed well in the VFL with Casey. He added some consistency to his game and he has turned up to pre-season in the best condition we've ever seen. We are looking forward to him taking the next step as a player.

Certainly looks that way in the photos so far.

Jordie McKenzie

He was rewarded at the end of the year by being upgraded from the rookie list to the senior list. He has become an important part of our midfield with his hands in close at stoppages. In pre-season he wants to push himself into the highest running group and he is doing that at the moment.

interesting write up on neville jetta n jake spencer (looks like the footy club have high hopes for them):

how for jetta they see him as an important player for our forward line pressure and our midfield.

n spencer they see him as being the future ruckman for us soon.

Don't you just hate these glib assessments of players.

Not an honest opinion about their performance and saying absolutely nothing about where they are and where they are going. You could write an analysis for the whole team without ever having seen a game played.

Reminds me of the "truisms" about draftee assessments. You know the ones...."good outside" = useless inside. " strong runner" = can't find the football etc.

So does "defensive forward" = can't kick goals

"flexible" = can't hold down a position

" consistent" = consistently what?

Oh well it is the off season.......

Yeah. I sort of think of "training the house down" as meaning "training his body into the ground." People who do this usually spend the rest of the year trying to recover from niggling injuries they created for themselves.

On the contrary, I think they are an honest (but brief) assessment of each players performance in 2010, and some general expectations for 2011. I'm can't imagine what you regard as 'dishonest' about them. Maybe you could enlighten me and others. And I'm personally happy to get a few snippets of inside information about Maric's presentation for pre-season, Jordie's running aspirations for 2011, etc. etc. If you really 'hate' them, ignore them!!

Well, we celebrate one of our posters giving a three word analysis of each players' game...

A couple of sentences I'm happy with.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
