He was incredibly lucky. He wasn't the reason they won.

Neither was Mark Blake at the cats, or Steven Armstrong at the eagles.

Poor example.

If I was going to use one for your case it would be Bren Harvey or Peter Bell.

But I still say he is too small.

His good points don't outweigh that.

What gets my goat about you is you have all the opinions but I wouldnt thought you have seen many of these players play.

He is 175 cm but his awareness in traffic is better then anyone at TAC CUP level. He consistenly lifted when Calder required him to and his possessions have massive hurt factor and he breaks stoppages open with excellent early pace and evasion.

He will make it as an AFL midfielder and he will be gone by pick 32.

I have seen him play and thought he was best on groud the game i saw. I also agree that his too small and his also a clearance player and not the player we need. We need outside mids with good foot skills if were getting midfielders not more inside players. Having said that I think he could be a handy pick up for another club

This is where I would target my back-up ruck strength, think there should be plenty options available.

The kids a baby, I'm happy to use my third round selection in this draft to wait, 10-12 weeks till his foot comes good. Start his "pre-season" late and look to have him cherry ripe for start of following year. If Essendon dont wont to wait, fine by me. Kid should have played last year was it not for their "muppet coach". Sadly, he got injured, sure Essendon will look to rookie him, we should not give them the luxury, he is exactly what we need for the long-term.

Lets not forget we are talking about spot 37 on our list which we can easily cover in the short-term with a Veteran and be no worse off. In theory all you are doing is bring forward your rookie pick to get ahead of GWS.

He is a 12 month investment. Essendon cant carry him on their senior list because they need mids, they cant afford to carry injured forwards, they are well stocked for forwards.

Sadly, you cant wait till the Rookie list because he wont last till our pick, or it would be a massive, massive outsider to be their by our pick.

My plan would be, dont get him going till January-Feb next year. If he comes to hand quickly, play him at Casey, if he performs maybe, just maybe he gets a few games late in the season, depends how we are going. If he does not come to hand straight away, put another pre-season into him and you have the perfect (perfect in age & ability), stay at home full-forward. This kid can play, sadly he missed out because of a/ injury & b/ Hardingham literally jumping out of the ground, and Gumbleton staying on the park. Which I may add are no certainties to happen again next year for the Bumbers.

Tall, strong, fast, good leap stay at home full forward. Kid did not miss out because of lack of ability. If we are pre-pared to be patient, & that one virtue we have demonstrated, this kid could easily be a 8-10 year forward. He is unfortunately on the wrong list to get the right opportunities. But I will say it again, its not because of ability.

I would be getting Jack Grimes down to his house in a flash. Sadly, these kids dont grow on trees.

Oh ... Yes, I forgot, this right age for the long-term. B)

This thread is premised on us using four picks. Currently we only have list space to use two (12 & 32). If we are going to use more we have to find more delistings.

Many have said delist PJ. If we do, we create an urgent need for a mature bodied ruckman to fill in if Jamar is injured, and we must look to use one of our three picks to fill this need. To go to using four picks needs another delisting. Who? Will that create another real need to be filled?

Random musing about who will be available where in the draft won't cut the mustard beyond the first two picks.

Looks like a really decent get, but I think we can get an even better player at pick 12.

Gamble is a decidedly average HFF when we already have Jurrah, Bate, Petterd & Dunn all around the same size.

Ignoring that, Newton is on the rookie list and even if we keep him there, we'll have at least 2 rookie spots to fill.

If you're talking about spots on the senior list, we currently can only use our 1st & 2nd round picks.

If we delist PJ & McNamara, we'll be able to use both of our 3rd round picks

we don't have unlimited picks to take punts on rejects when it's likely there will be much better prospects available.

I've seen him play about 10 times this year and can safely safe you have no clue about the draft, he will go first round.
