What's new , Eddie has Demetriou and all the other sycophants in his pocket and always has and always will. He run's the club that brings in the most money and Demetriou gets 2 million a year for keeping McChins happy

You may well be right, but there is enough supporters who do not like the current Demeitrio Regime enough to fight Back-This issue next Saturday is a shocker. 2 Foundation clubs playing on a Forecast sunny day, on an MCG that is like a bowling green.

And a clash has been deemed.....NOT F@#$%kn on!!!

Where is WYL?

His apocalypse has come...

Actually, I do find this quite concerning.

If the AFL is going to do this, they must force every club to develop a clash strip that can be worn when needed.

In this instance I'd accept Collingwood finished higher on the ladder.

But if they didn't? The claim that they don't in fact have a clash strip is no excuse.

I will say that I don't particularly care how much white is in the clash strip.

That point is irrelevant.

I'll laugh when they exchange jumpers. LoL...

Rediculous Idea.

What a pity the Saints didn't finish on top of the ladder & Eddie had the plain white strip. He'd whinge all the way to the emirates.

If the AFL ever tries this on us, we're collecting the cash to pay whatever fine they want to hand out, and telling them to get stuffed.

Are we all prepared to commit to that right now so we're ready for it when it comes?

I'm in, obviously.

This is my point. What is the penalty given if the saints run out in their Trad Jumper next saturday???

CHOSE to wear their alternates in 1998...but this doesn't matter

Collingwood's "clash" jumper would have sufficed in this game - only a problem for Geelong, and North

- This however is why the AFL needs a reasonable policy on the matter - only when its absolutely necessary should a team wear away strip

- THIS IS WHy WE NEED A GOO AWAY JUMPER

I'd imagaine the Saints would be ropeable about this as their most famous GF winning photo is of Baldock accepting the premiership cup wearing a Collingwood jumper , something which has stuck in the throat of Saint fans since 1966.

Surely they'll give the forks to the AFL over this .

The figure I heard was $30k. Worth every cent! If I were the saints I would have no hesitation in running out in the jumper, even for the last half or quarter, especially if leading. However, imagine a saints player doing a Bartram in the dying stages of a tight GF, handing collingwood a victory, because he got muddled over the black backs and white numbers of both jumpers.

I suppose I am in the minority that thinks that Collingwoods clash jumper actually works. As stated, it is their traditional jumper, the one that they have won all their premierships in. They only switched to the black in

'99 when adidas came on board as a sponsor. This was because adidas is 'the brand with three stripes'.

$30k is that all, that is less than 1 dollar a member!!! Too right they should do it....I wonder if they will??

I would love to know what would happen if next week the St.kilda side ran onto the MCG in their Traditional Jumpers..What would the AFL do??

Is anything written as a stated penalty. Someone has got to take the AFL on....."No pain No Gain" Will the saints have the Balls to do it?

Some of their supporters today i mentioned it to were almost crying because of it. Does the AFL care about anything??

Was pondering that too....sort of fait acomplit !! The AFL does ned to be reminded just who and what they work for.

I can feel a Mighty Ducks moment coming where the Saints need inspiration for the second half and come out in their traditional apparel in the 2nd half to the tune of We Will Rock You!

I hope the AFL are true to form and kit out the umps with white shorts black socks red shirts with black collars and white names/numbers thus minimizing any confusion .

But if clubs don't clash with other clubs, surely the umpires don't clash...

Clint Batram wasn't handpassing to a pink shirt that night, either. He was...

Crap?

Vision impaired?

Don't agree that there is something wrong with Clint?

Throw him under a bus (and Brad Miller on Whelan at OO), or agree the AFL need clash jumpers because players get confused.

Let alone spectators - it's either effing quick or a scrum. Clash jumpers are just trying to help everyone see the game.

And don't give me the - the game survived 100 years without it, nonsense. The game has changed immeasurably from the one-on-one, slow kicking-based game it used to be.

And one more thing - teams started off with just hats to differentiate each other. So the first colour strips could be called clash strips.

And I have entered this argument again.

Ah yes but had Saints finished higher they'd be in normal gurnseys , filth still in black and white and apparently no clash as deemed ok !! Idont necesarily see no reason for clash kit only some logicality needs to enter the array

just to weigh in.

there are some clashes with teams. roos/pies, us and the bombers, cats and roos/pies... there certainly are clashes.

however, not every team clashes with every other team. common sense needs to prevail.

im soccer, teams have 2 kits. the 2nd one is not nessecarily white! if both teams are blue, can the away team not wear yellow?

for example, we clash with port adelaide. fair enough.

why cant we wear a jumper that is mostly red?

dont change the jumper unless there is a bonefide clash.

allow teams to change their jumpers but to keep their original colours if possible - just change the designs, or the ratio of colours.

there is no need for all teams to have a "white" away jumper.

this year, the saints changing jumper is fair enough. they finished 3rd, pies 1st. however the afl have now set a precedent - and this must be followed in coming years - that the higher finishing team gets to wear their home jumper in the event of a clash, regardless of if the lower finishing team is collingwood and "dont have an alternative"

I have been involved in this subject on a number of occasions and try as I might I could not let this one go past.

First let me say I DO NOT WANT THE DEES TO PLAY IN A CLASH / AWAY STRIP!

It is beyond belief that St. Kilda is being force to wear a clash jumper on Saturday.

For the life of me I struggle to see a clash with this game, I think it was more of clash last friday but Geelong wore their normal jumper.

I know why individual teams ( MFC ) roll over on the clash jumper but surely it is time for a bit of unionism by the other 14 clubs.

Every team should contact the Saints and say play in your normal jumper and we will contribute to the fine.

Now that will not happen and the saints will play in the white clash jumper.

If they win the subject will be lost for all time.

I fear it is lost anyway so we need to finish on top!

Otherwise we will be playing in our clash strip

However I would like to have the problem in 2011!

Posted

Can somebody provide an example of a clash between two clubs where if the team colours were inversed (eg melbourne would have a navy yoke on a red jumper), there would still be a clash?

Maybe norf v pies, if pies were wearing their white strip, but in their black there is no clash.

I struggle to think of another example. Shouldn't all clubs then just inverse their traditional strips, rather than coming up with w@nky, insipid white designs?

Well, if I was in his position in a close game and got asked if I mistook the ump for a dee, guess what I'd say

TBH I'm not saying it wasn't a case of a clash, it probably was, but there is room for doubt (totally stupid umpiring decision anyway)

BTW I do believe there are cases of misidentification in games, always has been and always will be, even with clash strips. Problem is just how prevelant they are and to what extremes do you goto to avoid them. At the moment the AFL just dictatorially decide who clashes and what clash strips must look like and allows new franchises to design home strips which obviously clash etc. etc.

Hi "Daisycutter" we have been on this subject a few times!

Just heard St kilda on the radio and they seem to be just rolling over without a fight.

Made a comment like " the AFL have a hard job and have to make tough decisions on the competitions behalf".

You have to wonder why the saints did not put up a fight?

They have 40000+ members and money in the bank!

Why do the clubs seem resigned to "Clash Jumpers"?

Who at the AFL decided that these teams clash and one of them needs to wear a white jumper i.e. St.kilda?

What would happen if North finished on top and they were playing Collingwood tomorrow?

North in a clash jumper?

Now wait for it "Daisycutter"

Collingwood has a basic white clash jumper or no one does!

I can dream I suppose.

IMO the subject is now officially lost.

Dees in a white jumper in the GF is the future!

Just because the Saints might "Roll Over" to the AFL demands Old Dee, that does not mean the MFC should.

Our History is proud compared to that Rabble, something i remind my Brother of continuously.

It is a sad day if the saints will not pay a small fine in order to keep their long History-but it is their decision & has Bugger all to do with the MFC.

Except that it appears all sides except Collingwood are rolling over.

I firmly believe if we were playing Essendon on Saturday our management would be doing the same as the saints.

Sad but IMO true.
