Jones should have taken whatever was on offer outside.

In 6/12 months he will not be in the starting 22.

From there on, his marketability (= value) goes down.

Disagree. Do you think that in 6 months time, Scully, Trengove, Blease, Tapscott, Gysberts, Strauss (all teenagers!) will suddenly be ready to lead the midfield and take the big hits at the bottom of all the packs?

Yes, Jones is borderline best 22 and probably won't be in 2 years... however for the next 2 years he will play a very important inside role for the side, protecting the teenagers from doing the grunt work.

And... if Jones keeps improving like he did at certain stages in 2010, and eliminates some of the rough edges from his game, he might surprise us all and be a very valuable member of the team going forward. After all, he is only 22 years old

Jones was borderline 22 this year.

My comment was more about him getting to a favourable (ie money) position while he can. Another year (or 2) and he won't have any value.

Just watch and see.

Haven't given up on Morton but I would have taken a trade for him with the Suns.

IMO, we have to ride him like a Donkey to get his Lazy Ass putting his head down, And hauling heavy ass.

Criticism required I think to push him. Constructive criticism balanced with praise when deserved.

I don't understand bumping the thread. Is Dandeeman just trying to prove a point that Nat is not as bad as a lot had thought?

If he pulls his finger out, yeah.

I should have called that Potential Flag Core ©, as it was more about talent required to win a flag, rather than by actions on the field.

He is one player that I know welcomed the exit of Bailey.

According to a couple of people I have talked to, Cale didn't appreciate the varying positions he was played in and didn't feel he got time to cement himself in any of those positions before being sent to Casey.
