With the Crows shock win over the Saints, we have now slipped to 12th.

With a win over Norf tomorrow we will climb back to 11th.

Nothing groundbreaking, but in spite of the fact we'd receive a draft pick 2 positions earlier, it is a weak silver lining and personally I want the win.

It would send Junior off in a fitting manner and would give us some momentum going into next season.

Reprehensible concept, wanting to lose for draft picks, I know, but I thought it was a point worth raising.

If Port lose, we're 10th.

Here's the breakdown as far as I know.

(Assuming Port lose or draw)

If we win, we get picks 16, 33, 50, 67, 84 and so on... (incidentally, the roos who are 9th, would get pick 17 straight after us... Gold Coast's picks in the first round end after the team who comes tenth... until the start of the second round).

If we lose we get 12, 31, 48, 65, 82 and so on.

Not a huge difference... but unlike any normal year, we would drop 4 spots if we won tomorrow (and Port lose).

Belt North relax then prepare for China.

melbourne need to forget draft picks....a draft pick is just a for one player....a win means 22 boys have put it together on the day...a great way to finish off the year...

north beat us last time...each win removes doubt amongst the players...

last year was good to lose but this year...we want to finish with respect....sponsorship and confidence will be better than 2 picks early in a draft for one player...

By my reckoning, we've only played 6 really good quarters against North out of the past 36. 2 out of the last 28.

This is something I'd love to see changed today.

Where do you get these stats 45!! And the time to find them...I like reading them and i have all confidence they are correct, but they are astounding to see written sometimes!!! B)

This was a combination of lookings at the scores for the past 9 games we've played and the memory of what happened on those days.

In this case it's not so much of a statistic as an opinion, but I think if many people undertook a similar exercise they'd probably come up with something pretty similar.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
