Strong Rumour...TJ has been delisted from the Brisbane Bears.

We made a very good call i think at the time.

That has been expected for a while.

I LOL'd. TJ: Most uninterested No. 1 Pick ever? Talent to burn, but no fire to burn it with.

I rated TJ highly, his disposal was second to none... just didnt have the heart to make the effort required to cut it in AFL.

Miss him at MFC, but then again Jack Grimes was a good replacement.

Johnstone (and Fraser) might not have reached the heights expected of a No.1 draft pick, but he (they) still played 200+ games. Since when is that not 'cutting it'?

We just made the right decision to trade Johnstone when he still had some value and got an excellent trade for him.

if pav wanted to play with melbourne...could he be captain and would people want him?

Love to, but he won't. Would have to be on a massively front-ended contract, and I doubt we have that kind of space next year, especially since IIRC most of our current long(ish) contracts are front-loaded (Frawley, Davey, et.al.)

I also believe that we aren't Carlton, therefore we do have established leaders in place, so I don't think that he would be a walk-up start for the captaincy. Although, in reality, it would be up to the playing group to decide.

tl;dr: Maybe, yes but we can't afford it.

Why do you say he would demand a front loaded contract???

Didn't say he'd demand one, but assuming all our players come on as hoped, we are going to be in for a big TPP bill in years to come. Therefore, I saw it as best for MFC that he gets a front-loaded deal. See also: the salary cap mismanagement that is the Lions.

Edit: That's not to say that I know ANYTHING about the club's current contract situation, so take anything I say with a sackful of salt.

It is interesting that the Pav has not yet signed at Fremantle. But he does have a history of holding out right until the end of his contracts*. With GC starting up, it makes it even more interesting, and you wonder if it is a strategy of perhaps driving his dollar further ie. incentive based; finals (finals performances clause). Fact is, it's all pretty much confidential and we are none the wiser.

"IF" the Pav was interested in Melbourne somehow (ie. the Connolly/Schwab connection), which I don't think he is - because you would be crazy to leave the Fremantle list on current analysis. I'm sure the Demons List Management would be able to accomodate him. He may not need to be front ended or back ended for that matter. It may be an even distribution juggling act ?! Guys of the ilk of Pav or Judd etc rarely move clubs, but when or if they do...you move heaven and earth if they knock.

Ha. Poor description I know. I can't be bothered finding a better description. Hang on. What about this one..."not a fixed payment rate for the duration of the contract." Is that better ?

IF Pav wanted to come to the cdemons I would be happy to give him what ever he wanted and offer him the captaincy. He is like a Judd, and what would make it ok is the fact that he is miles better than anyone on our list.

Would be a better pick up than Judd IMO

No, the description was fine.

Just poking fun at the forgotten concept of paying a player's contract evenly each year of its duration.

would love to have him at melbourne any day

but i don't agree with making him the captain

i think we have alot of players who have earned it more

Would be a great asset - a leader and player. We would nearly win a premiership with him next year.imo-a better asset than McNamee's want of J.Brown.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
