Demonland Prediction of the Week

Featured Replies

Posted

Let's make this a weekly column whereby all are invited to make 1 (and only 1) prediction for the Demons' upcoming match, and let's see who gets closest to the pin.

I'll get things started by declaring that Jordie McKenzie will be nominated for this week's Rising Star Award.

Jurrah to kick 4

Green for last goal

Scully and Trengove to get a total of 50+ Possys combined.

Watts to have a breakout game - 3 goals, and enough important stats (ie contested marks) to prove he was a good pick!

...but then again, Jurrah may steal his thunder!

Matty Bate to kick 4

I reckon seeing as most people are predicting goals kicked by a certain player, next year we should do a comp where we keep guessing who will kick however many goals. They also do a thing in the Melbourne forum on BigFooty where every week you have to select a player and if he doesn't kick a goal you're out - but you can only select a player once.

And Frawley to get 22 possessions.

Demons to win - that is enough for me!! Nearest the pin? I'll go 23 points....Cmon Dees!

Joeboy to just get half of his 3 word player analysis post correct.

:)

Demonland posters to be talking either of premierships or the axing of the coach based on the performance of 22 players in one single game.

In all seriousness, Bate will kick 5.

How true!

Sylvia to be BOG. (3 goals, 31 touches).

Demons to win by 10 points.

I will have a great day at the Presidents lunch... :)

Jurrah to hurt his shoulder in an early clash that the other players do nothing about...and posters to complain that we rushed him back.

Aaron Davey to kick 2 goals, have 3 assists, lay 5 tackles and collect 32 possesions.

:)

Sylvia too kick 6 goals!

My predictions:

1) Deevout to eat too much at the Presidents Luncheon

2) The round passes without Miller getting a belting on this site

3) Demons by 28 points

Melbourne to get flogged and these boards to get flooded with words like "Pathetic, heartless, unskillful etc etc" :P

Davey to kick 2 goals, have 3 assists, lay 5 tackles and collect 32 possesions.

:)

Which one??

Melbourne will win because the Big Jimma is behind the Goals again.

Knights gets sacked and run out of town by feral Frothing essendon members.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
