As advertised in the Demon Shop:

"Our 2011 guernsey is the most technically advanced in the AFL, but also recalls elements of our clubs proud history. The return of the collar, along with a sharper V, a deeper red and darker shade of navy blue take the guernsey back to our true colours, while ventilated side panels have been added to cater for the athletic nature of todays game. Our clash guernsey retains all of the elements of our home guernsey, with the addition of white panels that create a gladiatorial feel and represent the colours of the Melbourne Cricket Club."

Brilliant that we have returned to the sharper V and our true colours, as worn in our premiership years.

Thanks Cam.

Well DOF I am of a similar vintage to you I think, to be honest all I can remember about the Jumper from the 60's is it had a dark blue body with a red yoke and a collar and Red socks.

With either white or black shorts.

I quite liked last years home jumper.

And at the end of the day winning games in our traditional blue body with a red yoke is what turns my top soil.

So bring it on!

But obviously not the Owen Zinco collar!

Small blessings

So we basically wear a "Sydney Swans" Jumper when playing away now do we. Oh dear.

The Swans NEVER wear White shorts. Interesting to see whether we will be forced to considering it is their colour.

I am way off being Happy about this, but for the next couple of years i will swallow my pride.

BUT if we EVER have to look like Sydney during ANY finals match in particuliar, I will be Furious, and i hope not alone. Grrrr.

Can't help but think they're trying to be a little too cute. The blue trim to the yoke ought to be a bit wider and uniform. Would have liked to see the mfc insignia below the yoke too to break up all that white . Agree way too Sydney. Better than pajamas though !!

1948 was an excellent vintage old dee. Not only did we win a Flag, but by the time the mid 50s rolled around, I was already taking an interest in footy, and I had a succession of premierships and near misses to redouble my enthusiasm for the Dees. It's been a long drought since 1964, but the ground is now moist and fertile, and it won't be long before our topsoil is turned, old fella.

As I mentioned in another thread, personally I would prefer a bigger yolk (on the home jumper) as the logos take up much of it, but I like the New Balance collar design and the colours.

Agreed.

Usually all the logo's (AFL, Sponsor) can fit fairly comfortably inside the red area. Doesn't seem to be the case with the new jumper.

Probably not a big deal and I've got too much time on my hands to think about it, so yeh...

But they did pop up subtely on the sox - nice touch

Well DC I will take back what I said yesterday, after seeing the real thing I like both.

And this time I will not comment further on our jumpers till 2011!

God we are getting on!

My father starting taking me from the late 50's but to be honest the only one I can remember is 64 as a teenager.

and you are correct it has been a long time between drinks.

I hope we both live long enough to see the next one.

I get the feeling nothing will make you happy as long as we are wearing a clash strip.

Personally, I'm impressed with this design.

I hope we keep it forever.

I've never wanted to buy a clash strip until now.

It's an excellent attempt at a clash jumper 25 i will give it that. It is the best it will get under the present guidelines the AFL force upon us.

No i do not like wearing white, and never will.

Any idea on the shorts we are to wear with the clash strip??

My understanding is that the League does not like socks and shorts to clash, so they are unlikely to let us wear navy shorts if the opposition - Port, Essendon, West Coast etc are wearing black or blue shorts.

It's more for a player's benefit (less likely to handball to an opponent if bent over, say) than for TV viewers and the like. But that's just my understanding.

Really really good.

Both of them. It will be interesting to see how the collar goes for fans that wear a t-shirt or shirt under the jumper at the footy. Might look a bit funny. Not an issue though.

The only thing I am not completely sure about is having the emblem on the jumper. I think it gets a tiny bit complicated on the front for what is a very simple jumper but I will give it a go and see how it looks throughout the year.

Well done Schwabby! A+

Gee I'd forgot you mentioned that

Still I suppose if I had the job to sell it, I'd be saying that too

But take a bow anyway rpfc

Now some love my way. I seem to remember I brought up the MCC red/blue/white connection a few months ago. :)

Not to forget coloured shorts too :)

Winners all round

If we must have white this one wins my approval. Keeping the complete red yoke was the winner, as was the minimising of much of the white.

Clash jumper looks good.

Wouldn't mind seeing the "MFC" (that's on the socks) in navy on the white at the front.

Not sure it would be better though - might be too "busy"

I'll buy a jumper this year - last time I had one it had #9 on it (Brian Dixon).

I really like the new clash jumper. I won't say love, because i'd prefer we only wear one jumper, but this is a good compromise. Well done MFC.

I love how we have recognised that traditional is best. Dont be suprised if other clubs follow our lead and gte rid of the horrible monikor style jumpers.

Thanks Schwabby and NB. I think we also need to thank the OP and others that have contributed to this thread. I hadn't read/seen this thread before from the start, but it is obvious that the club have listened to the ideas that were raised on this forum. Everyone wanted the 'V' back and we get it. Everyone liked the MFC monogram and it is on the socks. The blue side panels were included in the OP's designs and we got them. We are lucky that our club is listening to the supporters. For many years it didn't. Well done all.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
