Not trying to be a Provocative anything daisycutter, just a little jibe in the on going saga of white jumpers.

I know you are fiecely anti white and you know I have lost the will for the fight

because I think we are tilting at wind mills!

On reflection you may be right perhaps I am an old PF'er

What good is a windmill if you can't have the odd tilt?

Keep smiling old dee :) from another oldie

There is a reply to that on Nov 28th '09.....

Good pickup!!! Hrmmm odd, but it's def from this year cos the artist makes comment on "bringing the Demon back".

It's just someone having a crack at a design though...

Hi Daisycutter, after seeing todays HUN I need to get a lance!

I am joining all the Don's on Demonland.

If Carlton can have light blue why do we have to have white.

It is time for every Melbourne supporter to write to the AFL.

Deluge them with complaints.

I am angry!

Thats right old dee, welcome aboard - finally some light at the end of the tunnel

All those arm chair experts who said Vlad would never accept a clash jumper that wasn't "predominately" white. Eat your shorts!

So, who's gonna design the first all red/pale blue (no white) demons clash jumper???

C'mon Redleg_24 sharpen that graphics tablet of yours

Pale blue may not be a Rolls Royce, but its still a Statesman compared to Great Wall White!

OK to kick it off here's one suggestion

All pale blue background

Red V stripe (a'la old South Melbourne)

Red piping at neck and sleeves

Red "MFC" gothic letters (as in emblem) under point of vee

Sponsors logo

New emblem over the heart

Pale blueshorts with red piping or strips

All red socks

Edit: maybe add some navy blue highlights too ?

"pale" blue to be as "dark" as Vlad will allow

I like the white jumpers, although not many of the ones posted on here. I even purchased the white guernsey we used this year. A pale blue version of ours would look horrible in my opinion, but I don't think we'll go that way anyway. I'm a fan of using the demon on our clash strip. Like others have said, this won't matter when we're winning.

My two cents.

Personally all bets are off with me if we are forced to wear anything other than navy blue and red.

I hate the light blue and the eighties guernsies are just awful.

I still believe you are introducing a third colour if you are changing the navy blue to a light blue.

Hell, if you were using oil paints...

..you'd be adding white to get that light blue.

As everyone knows - I don't mind the white jumper.

Just threw this together quickly for you. IMO the sky blue looks far worse than the white.

Here is the new carlton "clash blue"

Its not actually that pale!

CFC_New_Clash_Guernsey.jpg

I'd PV if I saw Tom Scully wear that colour.

Is this acceptable to a couple of you because it still 'blue'?

To me, that is absurd.

It's a different colour.

At least white isn't a different colour - it's a non-colour.

Lets see what someone can come up with design wise first before slamming the gate

Depending on what comes up I might end up agreeing with you on pale blue, but lets see

Thanks

thats a start. I know you just tossed it together but it can be improved on (bigger MFC, thicker red vee, all red sox.....)

re pale blue better than white. Not convinced yet (may change my mind)

at least its still red'n'blue

My real preference is still the reversed home jumper (which we had for a while) but if we have to go lighter there has to be some sort of compromise

If we absolutely have to go white (at least short term) then I want to see coloured shorts (to break up the total white look)

Edit: YSL must have slept in this morning

Adding white is the cardinal sin, but adding pale blue is fine? FMD.

Can't wait to hear WYL's thoughts on this.

Cute semantics Nasher

No-one is claiming pale blue is a panacea (or even better than white) just that its worth exploring

Prior to this everyone said that "predominately white" was mandatory and Vlad would never bend, this just opens the kimono a little

For all those KKK lovers I guess its a non-issue

I have checked out the position for all those like myself who are unsure on the position re "Clash Jumpers".

Excuse me those who already know the following.

The AFL decides when a "clash Jumper" will be worn.

The AFL has decreed that all clash jumpers must be predominately white!

All clubs with the exception of Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond have a mainly white jumper.

The other exception is Geelong, who's clash strip has more blue than the home jumper ( go figure).

So what's changed in the last 5 months re Carlton? Why does ~1/3 of the comp play by different rules?

I never thought white was mandatory.

It's just a colour that makes sense since no club has a predominantly white home strip. Although Geelong have the closest thing considering they love their white shorts.

Hence Freo, Hawks, Adel, et al going white.

Hi Trident re above in a seperate comment I said it was a case of power!

Some clubs have a lot e.g. Collingwood and other have little e.g. Melbourne.

I have not fought the mainly white jumper because it appeared to me that it was the decree from the AFl and in the next few years all the obstainers would be into line.

However the game has changed with the new Carlton strip.

If ever a club should have a white clash jumper it is Carton after all their colours are Blue and White.

I heard the Carlton CEO on the radio this morning saying they were a little tired of the white clash jumper

so came up with light blue, this was approved by the AFL because the teams they clash with

are said by the AFL to be Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond and Melborne ( From Memory )

So a light blue does not clash with those teams.

The main message I got was Carlton only need a clash jumper that was different the the teams they clash with.

On that basis the Dees need to work out who the AFL says we clash with and design a jumper around those teams.

The AFL's decree of Mainly White no longer holds water.

However nothing will change unless we all [censored] a lot.

Write to the AFL and Melbourne, nothing will work better than if both groups have 20,000 pieces of paper in their hands.

My two letters are going off as soon as I work out which are the teams were the AFL thinks there is a clash

well it certainly aint now - unless certain clubs get preferential treatment

but that wouldn't happen :o

Hey rpfc, can you imagine the Dorks with a paler shade of their colours

would still be wee'n'poo - poor ole Dorks

They had quite an awful jumper using their colours in the mid 90s.

These jumpers are hard to do, harder to sell, which is why I am malleable on the subject.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
