Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm not his biggest fan but he may be worth a shot in the backline in place of Warnock or Rivers who are not in the best of form at the moment. Is he injured, is he out because of discipline, or is he taking some time out to consider his future?

He has played his best football in the backline but with the Backs being in pretty good form at the time he was pushed forward; this did't work out too well so perhaps he should be looked at in the back half again. He is not a bad mark, he has a bit of courage, he is pretty quick for a big man and has pretty good balance, he couldn't do any worse than some of the big men we are playing in the backline at the moment.

Agree with very thing you have said here mate and think he has a lot more upside then Warnock or Rivers( bigger, quicker, younger) as long as he does kick it!

I don't see what's wrong with Warnock. He's a KPD. He prevents KPFs from scoring goals and he does that well.

Martin is a dud.

its not that i think Warnock is a dud, i just see a bigger upside in Martin. When he did play in the backline he played some great games, but the club from what i can see wanted him to plug holes in other parts of the ground(Ruck,KPF)that he cant play, so people think he is a spud. Yesterday we were undersized in the backline and that also really showed out against geelong. Martin adds two things that we need in our backline, size and speed.

p.s. i still like matty warock.

I believe he has had an operation on his hip. I don't think it is too bad but I don't know when he will be back. It is strange that there has been nothing in the injured list about him.

He hasn't played a game for several weeks but they keep forgetting to put him on the injured list. Nothing wrong with that.

Is Matty Warnock in bad form?

I think maybe we're guilty of comparing him to his early season form which was stunning, if a bit overshadowed by Chip's rebounding.

I wouldn't be marking him on his game on the weekend. Our midfield, with Moloney out of the game, and Davey ineffective was playing like 2009. I thought the defence did everything they could given we were KILLED everywhere else.

Warnocks form is not bad per se. However, in our last 5 matches, I think every forward that has played on him has given him an absolute towelling. Particularly on Sunday and against Geelong a few weeks back. The Geelong game was probably his worst. The worst for all our backmen right across the board, but he an JR had pretty ordinary games. On Sunday he matched up against 'lesser know' forwards and was comprehensively beaten

The other thing I noticed about Matty on Sunday was his inabilitity to stick a tackle. Too often I saw him beaten by his ooponent, half fall over, attempt to tackle the ooponent who easiy shrugged him off and wheeled round and kicked the goal. It has happened otyher weeks too. It is simply not up to the mark. A guy with a body like his should be sticking tackles and holding his ground. Two areas of his game, that at the moment, look concerning to me.

I wouldn't drop him though. I am still of the opinion that with him, Chip, JR, Garland plus Stef if needed, we need to try one of these guys at the other end of the ground if things in the back half arn't working out. IMHO, Sunday showed that there were too many bigger backman matching up against a forward line not known for its height nor stregnth. It is a waste having them all down back.

This is the current injury list and Martin doesn't appear on it so is he injured?

Have heard a rumour circulating at Old Hailebury that he's going back there before season end.....from a reliable OH source, no idea if a reliable Dees source. Hoping this is crap and he's ready to return soon.

I'm pretty sure he is contracted, which means it's not even legally possible.

Correct, 2011 for him.

Well if he's not injured, he's not playing and he is contracted then where is he? Someone said a few weeks ago on here that he played at Casey and was dreadful so maybe he has a virus or something; does that constitute injured?

Spot on "RobbieF" what is the story? this is really frustrating, where the hell is he and what is the story?

I have contacted the club and the silence from them is deafening?

I don't get it or I am missing something!

I'm pretty sure he can 'retire' from the AFL, effective immediately, if he wants. I think you're right though in that I can't imagine it being possible that he could be playing at another club at any level before the year is out.

The reliable OH source may well be confusing this year with next.

Stef's disappearance from injury lists, team lists and general club propoganda is concerning - because he certainly had potential. We know that he has plenty of other career options ..... I hope retirement isn't in the offing.

Anyway he's been named FF in Casey 2nds this week. You'd like to think that he'll be busting his gut to kick a bag of goals.

Im not sure that 192 cm defenders like Rivers and Warnock are big enough to play on people like Kosi, Tippett and various rucks that nowadays go forward. I would have thought Martin was ideal for this type of role if fit. Easier to develop a stopper defender than a forward from someone from another code.

Last week did show up a real weakness re our height restrictions in the backline. I think Martin should be now groomed for say a backline role with a turn in the ruck whwn required-similar to Tippet when he goes from a forward to a ruckman.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
