Melbourne Will Win a Flag in The Next 5 Years

Not sure if anyone heard on AFL Teams tonight but Tony Shaw made the comment that Melbourne 'will', not might but 'will' win a flag in the next 5 years. Made the comment that we have a lot of good players playing VFL who can't get a game.

Also on the show everyone agreed that Jamar would be in the All Australian Team to this point of the year and Pickering was pushing hard for Frawley to be in the All Australian Team also.

No major news really, but it is nice to see that some people are starting to take notice.

I am running out of years and 49 years will be a long time between drinks.

I can relate to that sentiment only too well 'old dee', but as my three Demon-mad kids keep telling me, they havn't even savoured their first metaphorical 'drink' yet.

Wow it would be great to have a premiership in five and it is great to dream - let's hope the dream comes true before some of our older players ala

Green, Jamar,Moloney,Miller, (if he still listed) Rivers, (ditto) and let's not forget Jimmy, he has to be and will be there, he is the man who LIT THE FIRE

Its clear from listening to Shaw in his game commentary on our Foxtel games he's done this year that he's a fan of us. Its good to see that others

outside of the club are starting to see what an exciting future we have.

And as sure as paper writers like Scott Gullan and the like continually still dump on as, in a couple of years time they'll be drooling over the shape

of our list.

For a glimpse at the future, have a look at the current issue of Inside FOotball in newstands. It has a picture of a 'Confucious' Bailey on the front, and

compares our list and its stage of developement with that of Geelong from 6 years ago. Young players with obvious potential (Steve Johnson a young whipper snapper with 20 games under his belt, young midfielders James Kelly etc) coming up against a hardened premiership team in Brisbane, getting smashed on their own

dunghill the year before but improving by magnitudes the year after, albeit still getting beaten by a small margin. The analogy is drawn with our performance at the Cattery a few weeks ago in that it was in hindisght quite a good effort which was only slightly marred by 2 or 3 junktime goals. The prospective sides on paper (Stevie J= Jurrah, Mooney=Watts etc) was mouth watering. THe edition may go off shelves in the next day or so but if you can get a copy of it its well worth the read...

My only concern when they were picking this side was how many of his own clients Pickering was selecting ahead of someone more deserving.

Does he manage Chip? He was massively pumping up his tyres. Having said that I take anything, anything, Pickering says about a player and

how they're going whether it be commentating for Fox or SEN, with a massive grain of salt as he has a hopelessly, unconscionable conflict of

interest.

Shane Crawford is a damn fool, but I was shocked at the conviction with which he stated we'd win one within 4 years.

He was adamant.

An amazing change of tune.

But then again, how many experts picked Adelaide to win the flag this year?

And that is one of the reasons why Casey was top of the VFL ladder (before its dismal game last week against Willy).

It is nice to hear......certainly beats the negativity most of us have put up with from other supporters/commentators. As long as none of the players get ahead of themselves and continue to work to achieve that ultimate goal.

Seen some decently rated teams in my time that got ahead of themselves far too often, hopefully this generation can avoid those downfalls.

The West Coast game gave me shivers thinking that we were already getting ahead after only 3 wins and 10 in 3 years!! Hopefully a one off that one.

Liam Pickering??? Massive conflict and not much point listening to that bloke as it is transparent when he is talking about a client. He pumps them up to the hilt, he gets on very well with Spud Frawley so would be no surprise if he was Chip's manager. I would add that the argument Liam made to have Frawley included over Dustin Fletcher (Brian Taylors nomination) was good. Taylor tried to retort by saying Chip doesn't pick up the best players and that Fletcher picks up talls and smalls. Not sure what BT has been watching as players such as Brown, Riewoldt, Stevie J, Medhurts, Motlop are a mix of small and tall that Chip has taken to the cleaners.

More deserving of All Australian is Chip IMO - the selectors need to stop picking these 'teams of the year' on previous years form and just pick on exposed form for that given year.

Anyone remember Richmond in 2009?

Some tipped them to be premiers.

Look at the result.

Keep a lid on it Bails.

Who? Sheedy? Not really a ringing enforcement when it comes from a man that went crazy years ago.

I am already planting the seed with the wife........

Don't expect to see me for days, except for perhaps a quick TV appearance doing a naked streak from the G to the Bubble, maybe even to the junction whilst necking 15 tinnies on the way!!!!!

Short memories.

Sheedy may have been the only 'expert' to make such a bold prediction, but plenty were overestimating Richmond.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
