C'mon Demons

I think it's time to re-produce this classic using current day players. Before I go any further, this suggestion was mentioned on the Youtube comments section (so I'm not going to pinch someone else's idea), but I think it's something that the Club could do as a great fundraiser. When it was released, I know they sold a number of copies, and would have made a crapload (from memory they charged about $20 or $30 for a video that lasted 3 1/2 minutes!

I for one enjoy watching players do stuff outside of their comfort zone, and would certainly buy a copy of this. I'm sure I'm not alone!

So, what does everyone think? I'm not really sure who we need to contact to get this rolling, so any help would be great!

Is that Neita at 0:17?

Todd Viney (if you are meaning the guy with the tunnel ball doing sit-ups).

In that quick clip he looked a lot like Neitz, but yeah, looking at it again, it looks like Viney :D

Did I see Strawbs O'Dwyer holding a baby O'Dwyer? What ever happened to father/son rule?

Should have been called the Mullets!! :)

Great clip!!!

great memories

I love that video! As you may have noticed from my signature below. I reckon it could work with the modern day players, but I am afraid any attempt to 'modernise' it would result in a cheap rip off. That clip has 80'S 'CHEESE' appeal all over it! But I like your idea! I love Rod Grinter in that clip to on the punching bag! And Darryn Hinch. Unfortunately Hinch gave up his support for the Dee's some years back, so not sure he would be good for a recall.

I wanna know who that little kid is that gives the "yeeeeeaaaaaahhh". Get him involved. Must be 25 by now haha.

Mal Waldon could replace Hinch.

Good OP.

More cheese than the Kraft factory but I love it !! Is every big speccie taken over Garry Lyon ?

I miss robbo..

i just watched I and Love and You..

I don't know if this is true, but my memory is that Chris Connolly might have written either the music or the lyrics. Either way, it is top shelf vintage stuff.

Yep - a new update PLEASE--Thanks for the memory

I think you are right. CC was definitely involved.

CC wrote the music. He and Jimmy play some of the music I believe, as you can see when they are out playing on the MCG. Jimmy is quite the pianist. I recall watching the Dublin Jim video and he does some handy work on the Elle McFeast show. Maybe he could do it again!!!

Does anybody have a better/cleaner version (mp3 or on CD) of the audio of this song?

Fantastic. Even featuring a newly-elected Senator on the clip.

Cheese. Let's make our own history. That was all for nought anyway.

i have the 12" maxi single, the b-side Demons Dance is great too.

I've always wondered if the person who wrote this also did Orange Organic's Pugwalls Theme song, heaps similar vibe.

Maybe just the midi times.

Loved the Orange Organics!

Got the 'C'mon Demons' record at home too- very catchy tune IMHO.

Didn't know Pauline was a Demons fan CBD. All she needs is a few streaks of blue in her mop.

Ive never seen that. Great to see. What are all those 80's hairdressers doing for a quid these days?

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
