MELBOURNE v COLLINGWOOD

Melbourne

B: Clint Bartram, Matthew Warnock, James Frawley

HB: Cameron Bruce, Jared Rivers, Jack Grimes

C: Colin Sylvia, Jack Trengove, Tom Scully

HF: Neville Jetta, Matthew Bate, Lynden Dunn

F: Brad Green, Brad Miller, Aaron Davey

Foll: Mark Jamar, Brent Moloney, Jordie McKenzie

I/C (from): Colin Garland, Cale Morton, Jordan Gysberts, Nathan Jones, Jack Watts, Paul Johnson, Jamie Bennell

In: Johnson, Dunn, Frawley, McKenzie

Out: James McDonald (hamstring)

Edit: Frawley, Dunn and McKenzie all named in the 18, so another 2 have to make way from the bench. Given Miller's named at FF (lucky) I suspect Watts may make way. As might Jones with his sore hamstring.

Johnson usually plays well against us so that's a good out IMO.

Given that, I'd settle for

In: Dunn, Frawley, McKenzie

Out: McDonald, Watts, Garland

Swap Jones for Garland if Jones is injured. I'm pretty flexible on this though. Gysberts is undroppable, I don't think Morton will be dropped, and I don't want PJ in the side. I'd be happy for the remaining two spots to be made up of any two of Garland, Jones, Watts and Bennell.

Frawley and Dunn obvious. Very happy Jordie Mc is back.

I reckon youre on the money, alhtough Bennell may be due for a spell ahead of Watts. Hes been pretty poor for 2 weeks.

Except that would leave us with a forward line like this:

Watts Bate Jetta

Green Miller Dunn

Too tall, not feasible. Unfortunately it means that JW will most likely be dropped.

What the hell is with PJ coming back in? From what Ive heard his VFL form hasnt been superb or anything

Maybe a sign that Jamar doesnt think he'll be able to ruck the whole game this week?

Of course great to see McKenzie and Frawley back in, and am keen to see how Dunn will play after his big game last week.

Bartram and Millar are extremely lucky to be in. I actually have to look away when Bartram is in possession

Welcome back Chipper!!! Welcome back Jordie!! Anyone with the name Jack, James or Jordie/Jordan is good for this side!!

But I am confused a bit by this squad.....cannot for the life of me see a match up for both Warnock & Rivers....how can both be included and Garland listed on the bench??????

Jamar smashed Jolly in rnd 2....if Miller is there we don't need Johnson....we dont need him anyway.

Kyle Cheney's manager must be looking around already.....I am not his biggest fan but going on what I have seen at Casey he has been the most consistent performer and surely deserved a spot on an extended bench at the very least?!

I would be very surprised if Jones played and even Sylvia (but probably more likely) and if that is to be the case then to me it is Dunn for Sylvia, Jordie for Junior and Chip for Jones......could've had Cheney or even Strauss (because I like this kid!) for one of Rivers/Warnock but not to be....

If Johnson gets a spot for Watts......well, I can't do much but I would be disappointed!

Our backline looks too top-heavy. Cloke is really the only 'tall' Collingwood forward, Macaffer IIRC is a medium. If Frawley takes Cloke, Warnock I guess could take Macaffer, but there's definitely a question on who Rivers would play on. Too slow for Davis, Didak or Medhurst.

Cant for the life of me understand how Miller retains his spot.

Maybe his final farewell game. We've lacked structure when we used Sylvia and co in

ruck everytime we'd get smashed in the clearances and it's just embarrassing. Johnson's last chance

Sneaky suspicion Bennell will get the chop had a 2 bad weeks in a row.

Watts will stay in the side.

Jones wont be risked.

and I'm extremely doubtful Sylvia will get up.

Don't expect Dunn to come in a kick a bag, he will be in for a role which will be that defensive forward that will man up on Shaw or Maxwell. I hope Bate doesn't get Harry O if he does push him deep inside 50 straight away. Maxwell will go to Green which is a great match up for us. We need to work on exposing Presti outside his defensive 50 and getting Harry O deep inside it which will mean constant rotations through the forward line.

What the hell is Miller doing in the team?

Its crazy i know. What hope are the coaching staff holding on to?! I could stomach Watts going out provided Miller was duely ommitted for his atrocious form, but if Watts goes and he stays i wont be pleased.

Sorry if I missed something, guys. But, does anyone know when Junior did his hammy? Don't recall anything during last week's game...???

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
