Epping or Hurstbridge lines will take you through to Jolimont station, otherwise Frankston, Cranbourne, Pakenham, Glen Waverly, Belgrave and Lilydale will take you through Richmond

There is a big screen before the escalators/steps which will tell you which platform and how long till it leaves

well any tram (75, 48, 70) that goes along Flinders Street from Southern Cross station will take you to the MCG.

i think tram is easier because it can get abit confusing by train and im assuming ur gettin a V-line from ballarat, u will have to by a metro ticket either way but im not sure u can get to jollimont from southern cross without going to flinders first.

i think its easier to get the tram all the way down flinders to the ground..

Whats easier tram or train?

I prefer the train, the best bet is to get the Epping or Hurstbridge train through to Jolimont, takes about 7 minutes.

If you get the Epping or Hurstbrige it misses Flinders st..

For example, if you got the 6:43 train from Southern Cross your trip is:

SC - 6:43

Flagstaff - 6:45

Melb. Central - 6:46

Parliament - 6:48

Jolimont - 6:51

Also any Pakenham, Frankston, Cranbourne, Glen Waverley line train also go through Richmond and then just follow the throng. If you go to Flinders Street from Southern Cross then Richmond is the next stop or if you go through the loop Richmond is the first stop whn you come out of the loop. You cant miss it because the train goes straight past the MCG. If you are still unsure ask any Melbourne supporter because we are such nice people (most of us anyway).

Stick with the train mate, don't bother with trams, too much hassle when you're already at the station.

Anything that goes through Jolimont as people have mentioned, or anything that goes through Richmond (which is practically every other eastern line like belgrave, lilydale, glen waverley, cranbourne, pakenham, etc etc will get you to Richmond and then follow the faithful. I'll be finishing up work and getting to platform 10 myself.

Any train that goes to Flinders St and then just walk towards the "G" along the river and over the Barack bridge. Magic walk especially at night.

Good call she devil - it is an awesome walk, really builds the atmosphere and shows off the city. Also the opening of AAMI park, so should be even more electricity.

Whats easier tram or train?

Get the Train straight to Richmond station, then get off with the masses & walk with the supporters to the 'G'.

Easiest & quickest way/ than the tram.

There's a lot more trains going through Richmond station.

Jolimont is closer than Richmond.

Just change platforms at Southern Cross, look at the screens and get any Metro train going to Richmond or Jolimont stations.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
