My thoughts are that Jake Spencer may end up there next season. That's based only on the fact he's a Queensland boy and that with our ruck stocks he may feel there will be more opportunity up north.

I blame all this on North Melbourne...If they had gone to the Gold Coast when they had the chance this Pillaging of players would not exist.

Lets just wait & see what happens.

But it is North's fault however you look at it

Only whispers i've heard are Petterd and Frawley. Petterd worries me as he's a Qld boy. Either would shatter me.

Anyone know if they are contracted ??

They're both out of contract at seasons end. I might be wrong but I believe out of our 46 players on the list, 26 are out of contract at seasons end!

Spence is from Townsville - only went to brissy for a year to further his footy. Being in Melbourne is no different to the gold coast they're both a long way from home. I don't see it happenig

i think Millsy will go - the writing is on the wall a la brock last year. He would know deep down that once the kids are up and firing there won't be much room for him in a forward line consisting of Watts, Jurrah, Bate, Sylvia, Petterd, Tapscott, Wonna, Green and add anyone elsefrom Jetta, Davey, Bennell, Maric, Fitzpatrick, Trenners etc rotating through. If i was Miller I'd take the money and run

What makes you think that a club looking to make an instant impact in the competition, would want a forward who cannot kick, nor can get a game in a bottom 2 side. (thats where people had us at the start of the year - not my prediction)

Ablett looks to be cooling, selwood has said no if you believe media reports, will anyone go who is a deadset gun???

A border line senior player who is in a leadership group may well be the best that would WANT to go and play for GC. It may be the bears all over again - washed up or out of favour players only

I think our young players will stay loyal, we have great people around the club Ie: Jimmy

However it obvious that Miller's time seems almost up, however would Gold Coast offer him a contract?

that is the question. If so he will go.

And if Gold Coast have trouble getting good players then what hope will GWS 18 have? First of all what player wants to move to Western Sydney and second of all what player wants Sheedy as a coach? A coach most people would agree hasn't kept up with the modern game.

At the end of the day, a player who doesn't want to play for your club is as useful as a player missing a leg.

If Ricky wants out, we should try and get the best possible deal for him and move on. We can convince a player to stay with more money and the lure of future success, but if their heart is not in the MFC what is the point of them being here? Should Ricky be more driven by being close to family and friends than being part of something great at Melbourne, well so be it.

To be honest I don't think we'll lose anyone of value to the GC, both because we have salary cap room to front-load contracts and because I believe our players can see the bright road ahead.

I'm 100% positive Ricky wants to go and play on the Gold Coast and be around his faimly.

I am also 100% positive he wants to stay at the Dees with his mates.

He just needs to figure out which one he wants more and I think at the moment he is doing that.

Unfortunately, our best chance of keeping him is if he continues to play here, with his mates and win games.

It doesn't look like he'll get the chance to do that before he has to make up his mind.

The best chance is to make a prelim final and make him really want it next year as well ;-) ;-)

If GC were looking for a bit of depth and someone who can goback and front...not starring but useful...then QLDer Miller (yes Brad)might be a cheapish pickup offering 2-3 years of handy service whilst they grow and build.

I think that as Melbourne's resurgence continues it will be too infectious and exciting for the likes of Petterd to leave. He'll see the opportunity of finals and dare I suggest a flag as a real possibility in his time ( At MFC ) whilst such wont be the case at GC.

Does anybody think that Petterd's injury will have an affect on his decision.

Personally I think playing on the G would generate a lot more excitement and passion for the red and blue, rather than sitting on the outer.

i really hope he doesnt leave i love how he goes about it, hes interview in the paper a few weeks ago suggests he really does love playin with the MFC and on the 'G'

but it really comes down to home much hes missing being home and misses all hes family and friends. Hopefully with the young group of blokes we have that they are

all very close mates and playing with them all for the next 10 years may make him stay.

PLEASE STAY RICKY!!! im boarder line putting number 15 on my back but am waiting for hes decision!!

My feelings exactly-if Ricky wants to go, then he goes.

If he chooses to stay great, but there is no use trying to convince a player who is not 100% for the cause.

They become a liability. I hope Ricky stays, but if not we must recruit the best replacement we can.

If Ricky hasn't signed yet (he wouldn't have) my thoughts are to make the finals, this will hopefully make him realise that MFC's gonna get to a flag sooner than GC.

And I just got the number 15 on my footy jumper.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
