Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Who else was nervous at 3/4 time

I was. It seems that until the final siren is gone I can see a way for opponents to come from behing and beat us.

Is this just a by play of being a Melbourne supporter :)

We had to kick the first goal of the final quarter. We had soaked up 10 minutes before junior kicked truly.

If the Bears had kicked the first they could have challenged, But after junior kicked that ripper, we put them away-Broke their spirit.

Absolutely!! Nerves crept in...

Let me ask people this; This "losing culture" thing.. surely it has been debunked as nothing more than myth...?

Surely 'losing culture' is a loser mentality, which can be overcome by effort and determination... anyone spouting the 'ol 'losing culture' chestnut now? Didn't think so..

You might want to drop one of the 'o's' in 'loosing', so that it becomes 'losing'

Yeah Fevola's the one with the loosing culture!

But yeah I have to admit, until we got six goals up I didn't remove the idea of a Brisbane comeback from the back of my mind.

Just read on Nathan Jones' twitter that he said it was the best win of his career. Interesting call from Nathan considering that he played in a winning final against the Saints in '06. Shows how massive what is happening at MFC at the moment is for all of us and obviously for all of the boys too.

I was terribly nervous. Not so much that we would lose the game but that they would win it. They had done so in the weeks before from similar margins behind and it did worry me but once the quarter started I relaxed a bit. Despite it taking some time to get that first goal, once we did I believe that's when I thought we had it.

The thing that impressed me was that they didnt stop tackling or smothering - Green on TJ was a classic example - and they sure didnt stop running.

I love this new Melbourne.

The thing is tho, it's not really a "new" Melbourne, as an emerging one. As someone has said already, only 3 players are new to the club from last year's wooden spooners. Two of those are brand new recruits that are 18 years old and one is getting a new lease of life at his new club. The rest suffered like we did last year to deliver those two prize recruits and impressive as they are, they didnt win the game for us. The entire TEAM won the game.

So very very proud to be a Demon

Yep.

I said to the missus something like "they will get us. We will cop a couple of bad umpiring decisions and Brown and Fev will run amok".

After the game I said something like "never in doubt" much to my wife's mirth. She stopped laughing about an hour later.

Still I'd be nervous if we were 80pts up in the last minute of a grand final.

Have to admit, I was. They'd kicked the last two of the third, could have been the last three if Brown hadn't missed, so I was just nervous that if they got the first that players like Black, Drummond, Brennan would lift them even more.

Me too. We had more errors in those last 10 minutes of the third quarter than for the rest of the game, I reckon.

We lacked run, Ricky P could not keep his feet and even JMac was creating blues. We really needed the spell that the break gave us. Once we had the first goal of the last term we were home but there were signs of fatigue in the third quarter.

I have been nervous at nearly every 3/4 time when we've led since that day in 1992 when we blew the seven goal lead at the last change against Essendon. Horrendous.

How good was Davey's smother at the end of the 3rd?

They had to kick 5 goals to nothing in the last quarter. We would have to have stood still to allow them to do that. The tackling and the pressure was far too good for Brisbane to overwhelm us in any way. I feel the stress and lose confidence sometimes but not last night.

We have overcome losing culture by drafting winners. The likes of Watts, Scully, Trengove, Morton, Jurrah, Blease are the elite junior talent in the country. They only play to win and the change at the club has been dramatic and beautiful to watch.

I thought we'd win but i remember seeing Bruce come off in the third and he looked distressed so did Jordie when he was shown on the big screen. I was a bit concerned they'd spent all their energy but they were actually full of running at the end. I've followed the team for over 50 years and this was one of the best wins we have had in that time, not just the margin or the team we beat but for the fact we are such a young side with so much promise. I've seen some of our more mature sides win by more and against good opposition but this was something else.

Exactly what I was thinking. They had all the momentum at the end of the third and that kick could have put them within 4 goals, but Flash closed in with speed we don't see from him as often as we used to, with no regard for any injury niggles he may be nursing. 10 minutes of arm wrestling, 2 points each way I think, I was getting very nervous but then Junior, Davey and Scully kicked three brilliant goals and I was able to relax and enjoy that winning feeling.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
