What was with the poor sound quality for 'It's a grand old flag'after the game?

I was hoping it would boom out over the stadium but all we got was a cra&%py muted version.

Someone from the G read this and have it fixed and on full volume for when we smash Richmond next Sunday!

You're right about the sound, I was middle deck Ponsford and couldn't even hear the start of it. Same story every week in the Ponsford Stand - you can't hear anything.

Except when everything goes quiet at quarter time and you can hear them playing Pink and/or Run To Paradise

I honestly believe it's because of idiots who ring up and complain about the "health hazards" of really loud speakers. I agree that there can be a level of sound that's simply too loud (to the point that it hurts), but we need to find a middle level, where everyone's satisfied.

Yes some of the Quarter Time & Half Time Music played at the MCG is quite Bizarre!!! My 76 year old Dad gets Furious sometimes bcoz he can't hear the Race Results!!

Classic my dad-saw all the Glory Years, and knew quite a few of the players of those days.

Agree, the song was definitely too quiet... although that may have been because 23,300 mad Demon supporters were going ape [censored]...

Just sent an email to them. Yay for democracy.

Pretty sure it was nothing to do with the crowd.

Fwiw I thought the crowd noise was less than it was in our wins versus Brisbane and Freo last year, for exampe.

The wind was very swirly and strong on Sunday, perhaps it had something to do with that, but I noticed it as well, you could hardly hear the start of the song. If only they showed such discretion with the mega-decibel ads they blast on the screen at any break, I can almost hear them from my house...

I was in the Southern Stand and it sounded fine.

the sound system problem at MCG is NOTHING new....it has been a problem for years.

I never heard the siren when we played Collingwood....thought we had marked the ball ready to kick the winning score...sadly not.

I was in the Southern and couldn't hear it very well (and likewise with the people around me).

It's definitely too soft.

Whether or not there are OHS restrictions or something like that that prevent the sound from being turned up, I don't know. But anything coming out of those speakers gets drowned out too easily at the moment.

There can't possibly be a noise limit. Think of how noisy some blockbuster games are (especially when the game is close), such as Melbourne vs the Filth, Melbourne vs Carlton, Melbourne vs Essendon...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
