Just watching Biff, Bumps and Brawlers and was wondering who in your view was the dirtiest player on the field. The names i throw up are Lewis,Worsfold, Grinter, Williams, Lockett. Keen to know your thoughts

Leigh Matthews. Sniper. But also one of the best players I have ever seen play the game.

Leign Matthews was hardly the sniper. Often he was front and centre with the "hard" stuff.

One of the greatest players I have seen.

Should have won a B'low one year where he dominated every other award by a country mile.

If we are talking AFL time then Grinter and Matthews are out of contention.

And Lockett was???

Think about it.......

He was pretty fair in 1987 (except to Eddie McGuire-but he probably deserved it)-He got dirtier as time went on

I saw a lot of saints game at moorabin in '87 Lockett & Winmar were just carving them up

So were Dipper and Williams in their respective B'low years. Just the same as Lockett.

Tip: None of them were found guilty of a misdemeanour in their B'low years.

I cant see how you can single out Lockett but apply different standards to Williams and Dipper.

mines Chris Lewis based on what he has been suspended for, biting (viney) kicking ( think it was a dees player). Seecamp was a dirty player for the dees, i remember an incident when he punched a blue player after the game. Now a days it would be the Carr brothers,Mooney, Barry Hall

Dipper & Williams applied there own standards-i didn't have to do a thing.

Libba would have to be one of the worst mongrels I've seen on field.

He used to give me and the opposing team the s*#ts...

But he was good at it for so long.

And there was that game against Richmond where he sniped Matty Knights... that was certainly a memorable one.

Leign Matthews was hardly the sniper.

Neville Bruns might disagree.

Often he was front and centre with the "hard" stuff.

One of the greatest players I have seen.

Agreed - he was in the top 5 I've seen but he was a thug in a time thugs ruled.

you obviously didn't see his king-hits on giles and stephen smith.

Dippierdethuggero How he & Greg Williams won Brownlows is beyond me.

I think your earlier statement speaks volumes about your position on this. ;)

Neville Bruns might disagree.

No sniping there. It was an out in the open king hit away from the ball

Agreed - he was in the top 5 I've seen but he was a thug in a time thugs ruled.

He copped alot but gave back a little more.

Dale Kickett anyone? Didn't he get rubbed out for 10+ weeks for punching Phil Read a couple of times? For that matter, Phil Read?

Both probably too ordinary to bother remembering actually.

Kickett should have got a medal for hitting Read who was a serial pest,a very ordinary footballer and overrated tough man.

you obviously didn't see his king-hits on giles and stephen smith.

And neither did they....

As you said they were king hits. Hardly sniping. In the age on all ground TV replays Lethal was one of those footballers that hit opponents front and centre. No cute hits, gouges or punches in a pack.

I agree with the poster who put Libba up for consideration. The longer he played, the more miserable a sniper he became. Hard to think he won a B'low, Gardiner and Morrish medal.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
