Saturday's result doesn't change my opinion of what will happen vs Collingwood. Nor does their win vs Bulldogs.

They are a much better team than we are, and they will thrash us, just as I suspected they would before Round 1.

Collingwood will cream us. I don't miss to many games in Melbourne but I've decided to do something else next week, not sure what but I won't be going. I felt drained when I left yesterday.

A week is a long time in footy terms. By Thursday, you'll be going.

It scares me how good Collingwood are looking. I think Jolly may be the final piece in the puzzle which lets Fraser play as 2nd ruck. They should slaughter us if they are on their game. How is it that we ever lost Jolly??

This time if we get two early chances against Collingwood, we have to put them away. It's amazing how different we look when we get on the board, we seem to just build in confidence and back ourselves. Maybe it's because we have such a young group but we must get off to at least a reasonable start or else we'll just be blown out of the water again and it'll be over by half time.

Agree on all counts. They were going to thrash us before Saturday, and they are still going to thrash us now. The only time that opinion will change is after the match, when I'll be saying that they did thrash us.

We lost Jolly because we couldn't see how past it White was. We continued to play him over Jolly, and so he continued to rack up the cheapies while two real ruckmen, Jolly and Jamar, were relegated to second and third in the pecking order.

Prior to the centre circle White was AA. We lost Jolly because at the time we didn't need him. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant, since Saturday no one else has.

Miller to Full Back. Cameron Bruce up forward.

Man on Man keep faith in some players to learn.

Bailey must put in a top day to regain respect of us and to some degree his players.

I'm sorry. I thought the centre-circle was abandoned before then. If I'm wrong, then I let facts get in the way of a good rant (my first, unlike others). But it was not Melbourne who got rid of Jolly. Jolly wanted to leave and we couldn't stop him.

After the center circle White was C*#.

No contested marks nor tackles, just as Bruce, Yze & Green were doing back then under nD.

My, how things have changed. Green has stepped up to leadership respected status putting his body on the line.

White & Yze have retired.

I changed my plans and can now make it to the first half of the game, so I'm in. I'll just keep rocking up as I've always done and have a good day at the footy with some mates. Currently my Collingwood mates hold sway but it wasn't that long ago Farmer kicked 9 in a half and it won't be that far away when the likes of Watts, Scully, Grimes and Blease are tearing the pies up. I'll say it again folks, suck it up, get to the match and support the team you know you'll barrack for for the rest of your life. There's simply not enough of us left not to.

it was only a few years ago we convincingly beat the Pies in three successive QB clashes in front of 70,000+ crowds

we were in the top 4 and they the bottom 4, now the wheel has turned, and in a few more years it will have turned again

Exactly. And all of a sudden Bailey will be the messiah, But more to the point Bruce, McDonald, MacDonald, Dunn, Miller, Newton will all be retired.

Why even mention Newton? He's not even in the team. It's almost as if you want to sick the boot into him.

Yeah, fine. But to blame him for our crapulence is unfair.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
