No respect from Magpies

Wanting to turn the tables this year, the Pies say they will be ready for two testing early assignments against genuine premiership contenders Western Bulldogs (Round 1) and St Kilda (Round 3), both at Etihad Stadium.

I'm not suggesting for a moment that we're going to be anywhere near premiership contender status in 2010 but aren't the Pies taking things for granted that their fixture in between those "testing early assignments" against Western Bulldogs and St Kilda in Round 2 is going to be an easy one?

I hope we make them pay and that they're 0-3 after the Saints beat them at Etihad.

Why would Collingwood be wary of Melbourne? They made us look second rate on both occassions last year. The Queens birthday game was one of our most insipid perfomances so far during the Bailey era.

I'm sure internally that Collingwood expect to beat us with ease in round 2. Hopefully that may work in our favour.

Out of our first 3 assignments, I believe the Collingwood game will be our toughest.

Our time starts now, and beating these "over achievers" will be a big step in the right direction.

At present, we are not worrying anyone. Most sides expect a win against the red and the blue. Proving we have developed will mean making examples of sides like Collingwood.

We will see how things are progressing come preseason.

Still a while yet, but 2010 will be the year the Dees start to remind all teams that we can get up for the odd WIN

It's pretty easy to get under everyone's radar when you've just made back to back wooden spoons so I can understand Collingwood's thinking. The bookies (always a good guide) don't think much of us either because I see that we're 16th in line in the NAB Cup betting. That's after us being drawn to play the Dockers in the first round of the competition. The game might be at Subiaco but we did beat them by 10 goals last time we played them. Yes, we need to win respect and that includes self respect judging on the way some of our posters here on Demonland go on from time to time.

Not really concerned with C'woodn't!

It just shows that there are over 40,000 idiots prepared to be frustrated by their continual failure during September's games.

Even "Eddie the Chins" has dropped the ball and is not as in demand as he was some time back. His gloss is gone.

Honestly do we worry a lot about respect, from these toothless, jobless, gold coat wearing, feral looking, sweat stained, academically challenged, rocket scientists??????

We are on a journey of excitement, they are trying the "top up" methodology that has been hugely successful of recent times with.......ah.......????? Yes, all teams use rejects but they had to bring in another ruckman because their vice captain couldn't cut it.

Regardless of the result I just want to see Luke Ball get IRONED OUT !! Stand up Mr Moloney !!!!

I'd prefer to see Watts iron out Maxwell, and tell him after the game, "Thanks for the tip on working hard in the off-season!"

I don't think Richmond will have?!

Sure they Would. Hardwick will do alright at Richmond. Hasn't said a word to the media that i have heard.

He would back himself against us, doesn't mean he will get a win though

I am Glad we are in this position right now.

NO Game for us is easy this year, at home or away. Each week we will be the Hunters....Players careers on the line. If you are Good enough you are in.....

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
