I think he will titan.

If the guy does not want to play for Melbourne I certainly would not pick him. Brisbane can't truly be that keen that leaves only Essendon as a potential threat to my scenario.

Why would Brisbane not be keen? Is it not obvious they are loading up for a flag tilt? Maybe they do not have the cap space but I dont understand why they would not be keen.

I think North at pick 21 might be interested. They have No.25 as well.

Brisbance have extra room in their cap as they didn't resign Bradshaw...I think they will have a big crack at him.

By the way if Butcher is gone and Tapscott or Melksham is still their I would take them over Black and pick up Thorp PSD

Cap issues is why I thought that Brisbane may not be keen.

North are in a very similar boat to us, if Ball does not want to play there, would they risk it?

For what it is worth I also think that Melbourne will take Mitch Thorp as our PSD pick 1.

So that means:

Scully, Trengove, Black, Vardy, Bartlett, Kennedy & Thorp will be Demons if my phantom draft is correct.

I think for MFC its more a case of "he doesn't want to be here, why use an unreasonably high draft pick on him?"

If North could use a pick that late on Ball, I don't see why they'd blink. Take him in a heartbeat.

North Melbourne and Essendon both have 2 picks in the low 20s. Both I think will consider him.

Brisbane have also said they will take him if they can (meaning he's very unlikely to get past 27).

Well done Number2. You have obviously put in a fair amount of work into the phantom draft. In the most part you are spot on.

Just a couple of personal views:

I reckon the Blues won’t pass on Talia. He is is a perfect fit to hold down CHB. They don't need another midfielder like Tapscott.

Secondly, Troy Taylor has tremendous potential, very athletic, clean/strong hands, and sublime skills. Its just a hunch, but if he doesn’t go 1st round, he will certainly be snapped up early second round.

Also, I reckon Jack Fitzpatrick it too low. He is 200cm, lightening fast and has far too much potential to let slip until pick 49.

If Ball goes to Collingwood it will make sick. No club should be bullied by Ball if he is the best available he should be chosen cause we may as well scrap trading cause free agency will be here. He is definately worth a pick between 11 and 20, I can't see him going past 16 Ball has stuffed up big time.

What ever happens to Ball happens but what the Melbourne must do is keep Connors away from our kids. Conners only cares about his commission, he is a joke.

The sad thing is when the draft is over most of the media coverage will centre around Ball if he doesn't go to Collingwood, they will go on about free agency again when the media should be focusing most of their attention on Scully and Trengove.

With the constant lukewarm actions by Collingwood in the media and trade week regarding Ball it's got me farked why he is so keen to go there.

Port were desperate to trade for Ball after losing the 2 Burgoynes,so they'll take 2 kids at 8 & 9 and take Ball with 16 before our pick 18.They need a tough ready made mid now after just missing the finals this year.

I'm going to pi55 myself when Port reads out his name.

I also think Sydney could take him at 14 and he would suit their gameplan with all their stoppages and small ground. They've picked up Mumford,Bradshaw,Seaby and the return of Kennelly and i think Rohan and Ball would top them off. They also need to replace Kirk soon and Ball would fill that void.

Callum Bartlett - This kid is good !!!

Wearing #22

I hope we pick this kid. He has a great penetrating kick and can break open a game. X factor written all over him.

BigFooty posters think that if he hadn't done his ACL this year he would be a top 10 pick. For what it's worth these comments make interesting reading.

Do you think we should look at Liam Patrick at 50?. I actually like the look of Myles Pitt from the Stingrays. Saw him in the TAC grandfinal playing at FF and looks like a natural footballer at 190cm and 93kg. Reminds me of Bradshaw, strong mark good kick, composed and does not get pushed off the ball easily. The type of player that could easily bob-up and snare 2 or 3 goals. He would be a good solid pick at 50.

answers to some questions:

heycosta, the Blues bypass Talia in favour of Tapscott they feel Talia will not develop into a versatile player and have penciled him as only a CHB. With Waite being able to play CHB, Thornton in the mix and Maguire (St.K) to be drafted the blues opted for Tapscott. Purely hypothetical but it is how I think they will draft.

ralphius, Dylan Grimes would be a romantic story for many Melbourne people. Many (myself included) think Jack Grimes will be our best player sooner rather than later, unfortunately his younger brother isn't as polished a performer as Jack. Dylan could be in the draft mix from 30-60 I just don't see the Demons or any other team taking him before pick 50. Note that I probably put Kellen Geary from Bendigo in the place I had slated for Grimes.

Also, with Black I feel he is the more agile of the available KPP. I also feel that his learning curve is not as steep as so many others in this draft.

PS. Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone.

I'm thinking Miles Pitt will make his way to the rookie draft Theo and I am not sold on Liam Patrick.

Liam Patrick fails to meet the MFC needs at that stage of the draft. I believe we have like players that are far more advanced than Liam. Melbourne will take Dylan Grimes at 50 before Liam Patrick I think.

Good pace

Good vision

Good kick

Confident

and like every player on You Tube - never makes a mistake ;)

So why didn't he get a game with Vic?

Because he did his anterior cruciate and barely played a match in 2009 ?

Article in todays Hun has him as a late 1st to early 2nd round selection.

Jeepers, this kid can hit targets. Normally these highlight reels seem to feature lousy finishing but he looks the real deal

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
