Blues adopt "controversial" slogan

Its quiet...not a lot "Melbourne" happening and then this gem appears.

Well if nothing else Carlton certainly have no short reserve of ego !! That in itself is fine but you somewhat need to back such things up or they become not just commentable but comical !!

Last year we had "They know were coming" and by golly that put the scares up everone !! :rolleyes: Apart from any sleazy connotations it really forgot to tell anyone "to do what " ?? It all ended up a bit like the 5:15 from Flinders St ; it came...it went... nothing terribly much else to note :lol:

Now we have..oooohhh wait for it... "Can You Smell What The Blues Are Cooking" . accompanied by imagery of Judd, Gibbs, Murphy and Kreuzer standing around a Premiership Cup that is being used as a cooking pot with a Magpie and a Bomber inside.

Sinister things are afoot my friends ... :lol::lol: They all do however look rather off-colour and sickly, boogadee boogadee !!

That they've copied ( essentially ) a catch-cry of the Rock only serves to show how imaginative this lot are.

So in answer to Visy land...can we smell it ?? sure can.....smells like a Crock of Sh!t !!!! ;)

Oh dear god.

Last year's slogan, while a pathetic representation of what they achieved in a sense, was a very clever marketing ploy.

They've obviously tried to better that and failed miserably. The only thing they seem to be cooking is epic fail branding!

(Couldn't happen to a more revolting organisation! :D)

They're becoming more and more of a laughing stock. And if they don't win a flag by the time Judd retires, that will just make for more comedy gold.

That's the funniest thing I've seen since Darren Cutherbertson's gem.

Far out. Given their record against those 2 this year was 1-3, it's not a great start.

To paraphrase Shakespeare.

"Double, double toil and trouble;

Fire burn, and caldron bubble.

Fillet of a Waite,

In the caldron boil and bake;

Eye of Judd, and toe of Chook,

Mullet of Sticks, and tongue of Swann,

Setanta’s baulk, and the outer wing,

Fev’s now gone, so who’ll have a ping,—

For a charm of powerful trouble,

Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;

Fire burn, and caldron bubble."

Can you smell what the Blues are cooking...

:lol:

Yeah, it's a bit on the nose...

They need a few more fresh ingredients over a couple of years if they want to plate something up.

Our side might be ready by then. :P

I wonder if The Rock copywrited that saying, and if so, how much Carlton paid for it. I hope they didn't pay for it and get unstuck and made to look like fools

Ha ha, that poster is brilliant!

I had a good laugh at this slogan, maybe I was one of the only ones to think last years slogan (although arrogant and cocky) wasn't that bad. I would be very interested to be in some of the marketing meetings when this idea got thrown up...

Revolting organization..Death is too good for them. Carlton how i loath you.

But that slogan is a joke, and not even catchy.

As already stated just a blatant rip off of The Rock

Just watch one of those Commonwealth Bank ads.

Well he was hardly the sensitive type himself...

When I see Carlton thats what I smell, a dead turd trying to buy a premiership :)

Yes i am still waiting for my Refund from all the cardboard & milk Cartons i used....

Where's the question mark? Idiots.

Not as bad as the new Adelaide and Brisbane logos - but close.

"They know we're coming"....to destination Nowhere

"Can you smell what the Blues are cooking?"...Manure

We're Carlton, the great dumping ground of the AFL & we're a thick-skinned group...gotta be with the slogans the brains trust have come up with in the last 2 seasons

    UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
