Barry made a lot of emphasise on how valuable he rates tall timber and versatility

could there be potential curve ball in the ND might Butcher have slipped in everyone else's mind except Barry's and be taken at 2

Might he look to Talia Carlisle or Vardy at 11, 18 and 34

might he think midfielders are a dime a dozen and potentially one of Scully or Trengove miss out

food for thought don't count them chickens

I think the surpises if any will occur from 11 onwards.. Trengove and Scully would have to be about as set in stone as humanly possible. There was many mentions of height. This might allude to potential KPP.. if we take MT in the PSd then there is much scope for 'surpries" at 11 18 34 and 50.

Still Talia and Black would be ideal at 11 ...but possibly Butcher will still be there ( not my preference..but hey ) this would start to satisfy height as mentioned..So to does Mitch via PSd.. Sort of get the idea with the Meese delisted that a Vardy type is very much on the radar..

Going to quite fascinating . Seems BP and Co are much more cohesive a unit now. I think we will remember the drafts of 09 for a long long time

dont really want to create another thread of already covered players..just trying to show how what was said could be accomodated

:)

might he think midfielders are a dime a dozen

Biggest fallacy in football.

great midfielders are not dime a dozen. We haven't had a champion one since Robbie flower... in fact the last midfielder we had to making AA was probably Adem Yze on a wing, and he was an outside midfielder who kicked goals as well. McDonald the next closest on the bench of the AA

This draft could be good news for us if we're looking for a tall.

The lack of quality talls this year has meant that most of the early picks are going to be midfielders and then a number of clubs between 11 and 18 will pick midfielders as they don't have the same need for talls.

If we can't get Butcher, I'd be happy with either Talia or Black.

Great stuff Barry!

With Newton and Meesen to go mature rookies. I would think that will give us Picks 1,2,11,18,34 and 50 in the draft. And PSD1.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong!

Barry talks about adding mids, tall KP, possibly another indigenous player and ruckman. Ihope he is thinking along these lines.

Picks 1 & 2. Scully & Trengove

Picks 11 & 18. Tall Key Position. Hopefully Black & Carlisle

Pick 34. Indigenous addition. Liam Patrick.

Pick 50. Ruckman. Majak Daw if available or Dylan Grimes.

PSD1. Key Position. Mitch Thorp.

I am not sure if we will have a rookie spot. But Dylan Grimes if he is still available. We could possibly take Dylan with Pick 50. He could develop into a Key Position.

The fact we've not even spoken to Dustin Martin is mind-boggling, but I also take as a clear sign we have our 2 picks set in stone.

And Butcher is not one of them.

If he was going to do that he would of traded pick 2 for pick 8 and 9 thus got scullt, butcher and another mid

There's a couple of reasons why haven't spoken to Dustin Martin. Firstly, we've already decided that we're going to get Scully and Trengrove, and secondly, he's going to Richmond, and therefore, he'll turn out to be crap!

you dont much about footy do you, no way, if that was the case, then we would of given up pick 2 for picks 8 and 9 from port, butcher will still be there at those two picks, you can never have too many really good midfeilder, trengove would be pick one,if tom was not alive. but tom is number one if trengove was dead or alive.

Go on... I'm sure Geelong would sooner trade Gary Ablett Jr than Cam Mooney or Hawkins.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
