Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I know what you meant and I still don't agree.

Incorrect criteria: If he is better than our existing key forwards, he is worth getting

Correct criteria: If he is good enough to be an AFL grade forward, he is worth getting.

Being an improvement on our current KPFs is faint praise and doesn't automatically make them worth getting. He could be an improvement on our existing KPFs, but still be rubbish and therefore still be wasting a spot on the list. Chris Tarrant (as a forward) would have been an improvement on our existing KPFs, but do you think he would've been worth getting?

As I said, Newton (and Miller) should not be used as the benchmark.

Totally correct.

Just because someone is better than the other players we have or have had, doesn't mean we should be drafting them. If the FD think Thorp is good enough to play CHF or FF or HF or whatever, then they'll take him. But they won't be comparing him to Newton or Miller or anyone else.

spoke to someone who knows someone who went to training,

Thorp reportedly

ran down Aaron davey after giving him a 20 metre start in a tackling drill

Kicked a 70 metre left foot drop kick in a golakicking drill

Knocked out Beamer with a lightning fast jab in a boxing drill

Took a speccy over Liam Jurrah who was sitting on Mark Jamars shoulders at the time

Beat Nathan Jones home in the 3km time trial

Training the house down!!!!!!

yes I am bored and eagerly awaiting next Thursday when we can talk about confirmed new MFC players

Wed, Nov 18, 2pm – Delisted primary list player draft nomination deadline

It appears as though 2pm today Wed 18 Nov should be instructive.

It's the deadline for delisted players to nominate for the ND.

Players who don't nominate presumably will nominate for the PSD because they have arranged their destination.

Mitch and Robbo nominate for ND

Not sure if anyone else has posted this yet, but ...

Looks like Mitch has nominated for the ND. The Dees clearly haven't guaranteed him a spot.

I think it's just a case of players wanting to give themselves as much chance of playing AFL next year.

I still think Thorp in the PSD is a very good chance, but we'll have to wait and see. There won't be a lot of late picks taken this year, so there may be some talent that gets overlooked in the ND.

maybe maybe not.. keep in mind we come to the end of our ND picks whilst some are stil wel land truly stocking up.. If we took Thorpe late in the ND we might still then get McD in the PSd.. purely theory...but shows a scenario

We may have. It's interesting that McDonald hasn't trained with us though, whilst Thorp has.

I think we'd only go for both if the talent was particularly light at pick 50.

McDonald is a little different where he probably doesn't need to prove himself on the training track. He played most of the season for Brisbane last year. Everyone knows what they're going to get with him, and he probably doesn't want to align himself to one club, unless of course we say we're taking him, then you'd think he'd start training.

Thorp is a different kettle of fish, hardly played AFL footy, hasn't proven anything yet, so he's trying to prove himself on the training track.

I noticed that Thorp didn't get a mention in the Phantom draft by Matt Burgan.

If he doesn't, there could be a real upside in picking him rather than McDonald.

McDonald is a proven player and we know what we're getting. However, we're also getting a decent player, but a 25 year old, who by the time we have a serious crack at the flag again will probably be 28.

Contrast that to Thorp, who has had injuries, and hasn't had opportunities at Hawthorn, but could mean that we don't have to pick another key position player in the draft, and can take another young midfielder. Add to that the fact that he's four years younger than McDonald, and will be 24ish when we're next having a crack at the flag.

I believe MacDonald has in fact begun training with us, and he has provisionally accepted a 2 year contract.

Could take him if we wanted at 50 I suppose.

It just shows how even this draft is.

I think Panos will go somewhere in the mid 30s to mid 40s.

No... it shows how ridiculously overrated Panos was by some people...

but you are around the mark with your prediction i think (maybe a little early)

Panos was selected All Australian Full forward so he must have shown something to the selectors.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
