Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jamar has only looked like a decent footballer this year, I've been his biggest critic, but this year he has really shown something.

1 year sounds good to me, keep playing like this, prove it's no fluke, and get a better contract at the end of it / or/ improve his market value even more.

If he goes back to being Donuts, then we aren't locked into anything.

WTF???

I hope they know what they're doing here. If we sign Miller and then keep Newton as well....surely not.

First post today, a pleasant surprise - awesome new site skin!!

Newton is contracted for another year, which is exactly why a 1 year deal for Miller is a very smart move.

Don't need to be locked into longer-term contracts with borderline best 22 players.

Miller has a role to play off the field, and maybe on it as well, depending on injuries and the development of Watts in 2010. We lose nothing by giving him 1 year, as he would have netted us nothing in trade week.

Interesting they are both one year contracts, that smells of Miller to GC17 to me.

We were stuffed next year if we did not resign Jamar, surprised he did not get at least a 2 year deal

How does Miller do it? Really, just how does he do it.

1 Year? Anything to do with GC17?

EVERYTHING to do with GC. Miller has to put himself in line for the best money he can get. The trouble is, just because they CAN take him doesn't mean they WILL.

The Jamar one is of more concern. Only one has to sacrifice themselves to GC. Jamar on one year perhaps is just agreed upon so that he knows next year's trade period (which could be EQUALLY as busy) will see his name floated again.

LOL @ 1 year extensions.

1 year is very odd!

I understand the Gold Cost scenario on our behalf, but why would a player agree to a 1 year deal?

Unless of course Miller has his heart set on going back to QLD.

Jamar on a 1 year extension is weird.

My thoughts. However, all player managers were on notice by GC to have their players leave their options open for next year, I think it's a good move on both sides. It could indicate the Dees topping up with a pick from GC next year.

1 year is odd. Jamar should have got 2. Maybe he wants to keep his GC options open.

Both player & club.

Leaves Miller placed to be our out of contract offering to GC next year should that need arise.

If he has a blinder of a season, we might regret it. More likely, we will like it.

If he has a blinder, maybe the latter.

Miller 1 year is a good result for us and for Miller. Glad he is staying too, despite his abilities.

Jamar 1 year, seems strange to me.

Agree on both counts.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
