With the emergence of youth with plenty of run in there legs to carry the ball out of defence and through the midfield.

I believe it is time for Green to play a more permanent role up forward.

We all know Green is a great kick. So lets play him inside the forward 50. He would be a great leading forward. And at his age may prolong his career aswell as giving us that other forward option. I can see Green as a 45+ goal kicker.

Thoughts?

I do like this idea but I don't know if he should be permantly put forward. When he was out this year we lacked a lot of direction in the midfield. He does straighten us up quite a bit when he's in there.

Having said that he does have all the qualities of a great leading forward

If he wants to be on the list beyond 2011, he will play FP.

If he wants to win a flag, he will play FP.

We have got Moloney, Davey, and Sylvia as leaders in the guts. Bruce and Junior are destined for the backline and Green the forward line.

Time for our kids to get exposure.

Thats where i have him pencilled him in for my team next year!

Let the young stars have a go in the middle and such, we need them to develop together!

Why couldn't he play on a half forward flank roving around the area of centre to forward pocket?

To me this is the place we can maximise his abilities. I believe Wona and Jurrash will float around the pockets with TEMEL in the square

Brad Green at FF is a fantastic idea... except for the fact he is just not big enough.

If they plug the hole in front of him, its not like a defender is going to worry about him crashing into their back like a Fev or a John Brown.

I approve of Green in the forward line next season. With so many midfielders now I think we can afford to. However, I don't mind seeing him play a role in the middle from time to time.

Was listening to the All Night Appetite SEN overnight show yesterday and some Melbourne supporter rang up wanting to trade half the team, noting that he "Has never liked Green". I lol'd.

Yeah, I would rotate green and sylvia between the midfield and the half forward flank. Don't believe either has the motor to run in the midfield all day but would compliment each other in this role.

I've thought that Green should be playing full forward for several years now.

Good mark. Good lead. Great kick. Smart player.

Will take several marks in the forward 50 each week. Should convert most of them.

No brainer really.

I think the idea's right but I also think you're a year too early.

In 2010, with such a young side, Green will still be needed all over the field.

He'll end up along these lines though.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
