I can confirm that it will be announced on the MFC website tonight at around 6pm.

Those who did no post with an consideration well I hope next time you won't jump the gun.

It is obvious Melbourne are creating a new era of young players. Expect Melbourne to make an aggressive offer to a young Adelaide player from Victoria. There has been no offer, may a repeat no offer made yet but MFC will go hard at him.

I don't like either of the deals one bit.

Everitt is rubbish for pick 18, Westhoff is rubbish, and a top 10 pick is not worth parting with our senior backman and only proven ruckman.

I suggested over the last month in another post Jamar & Rivers for Ports Pick 8 & 24.

Pretty close!

I would be happy with Pick 9 & Westhoff though. It possibly allows us to use Pick 9 on another midfielder (Jetta) and Pick 11 on a KPP. Westoff is obviously a forward I would think.

I would also be happy to see Everitt at the Dee's for Pick 18. Very flexible in his position and will get the game time with us. Rate him highly!

In saying all that, I am hoping we can trade for a pick between 20-25 for another selection.

It has no baring on the trade notion in this thread but Port are reported to be up to their necks in at least 6 trades. Whether this trade goes through or not, they will be 1 of (if not the) busiest teams next week. I won't bother analysing this trade too much other than to say NO to Westhoff.

I actually can beleive the Adelaide player suggestion. I could see us having a crack at Knights or Mackay, Dangerfield would not even be a hope though.

So who is the young Adelaide player? Dangerfield, McKay, Knights, Douglas, Maric, Reilly, Otten.

Not sure if Otten is a first year player or second. Cannot be traded if a first year player.

Maybe they have offered Dangerfield a Fremantle type deal. We will pay $$$ for you to go into the PSD.

I will take a guess though and say Knights! Goal kicking midfielder. Or maybe Mckay!

Love trade week!!!

this is not true. can't believe this thread has had so many posts. so stupid

Agree 100% Melbourne aren't going to confirm a trade on their site that is dependant on another trade going through first.

I think this is a fair deal.

The russian is worth a second rounder (as is westhoff and Rivers a first rounder (pick 8/9). I think we are being far too harsh on Westhoff - he is 198cm forward, he's quick, agile and has a bit of x-factor about him. The main detraction for him is he has a pretty slight body still, with a zac dawson type year in the gym i think he can be a real player.

I think its a win-win for both clubs - the russian is an experienced ruckman despite the fact he's promised to take the next step for years now despite all the opportunity, he just doesnt spread well enough from the contest the way that is required from the modern ruckman like Cox, Clark etc. I love Riv, he's as couragous as they come (reckless even), very passionate about the MFC and a leader. While he has been injury prone id hope he has put that behind him and id love to keep him. Although we've developed a richness of tall backs (Martin has to stay at CHB IMO) and he has the most currency.

I think the Adelaide player from victoria is Chris Knights. I heard on the morning glory last week that its well known within the AFL community he's coming home next year.

Yep exactly right. Burgoyne for pick 9 is far from a done deal. They don't announce this kind of trade unless Jamar or Rivers have actually asked to leave, a la Mclean.

I really can't see how this rumour is true.

I have also heard talk here in Adelaide that Knights wants to go home to Victoria....

He was quite happy here in the city of wankers.... I mean Churches (did I say that out loud?), was living with his brother until his brother took a job in Darwin as a pilot....

I think it is common knowledge that he is looking to head back to Melbourne.... He still has a year to run on his contract, but that doesn't mean a lot these days....

Would be a pretty exciting addition I reckon....

Very good player I agree Knights but is he the type of player we need. With Wonna, Davey, Jetta, Maric, Petterd, Blease etc, do we need another goal kicking midfielder?

While when it comes to drafting players I agree the club should draft the best available, but when it comes to trading we should only be trading for players who we need.

So this trade is being confirmed on a saturday afternoon

when trade week hasn't even started (even tho mclean deal was confirmed before tw)

hard to believe

Of course it's hard to believe. I think anyone who is posting these "I don't believe this!" posts are just stating the bleeding obvious. Everyone knows that 99% of trade week posts are bullcrap.

That doesn't make the suggested trade any less meritorious or interesting though. Personally, I'd find trade week threads much more interesting if people actually discussed the merits of rumoured trades rather than showing everyone how clever they are by claiming doubt. I know that will never happen though.

If it is Chris Kinghts. I would be happy to snare him! I dont know what we are going to give up though.

Pick 18 has been linked to Everitt, Dawes, etc. and now maybe Knights. PSD possibly if out of contract!

I'm pretty sure a few weeks ago you were on your high horse about people showing there emotions about Mclean, which you interpret as (going into a frenzy).

And now when people try to calm the storm and wave this crap away you say the opposite.

This would be interesting if it were true. I wouldn't really mind if it went ahead. Rivers I like, but I won't be overly fussed if he leaves, and another high pick can't hurt. Jamar has never shown us enough to be worried about keeping him. As for Westhoff, If he were to put on some muscle he could turn out OK. Perhaps our recruiters see something in him that they like.

As for the other player, I'd love to see us throw everything at Dangerfield. He's fast, strong and skillful. There's nothing about his game that I don't like. Knights? Meh. I don't see the need.

Why thank you fine sir, this makes it worth while.

Anyway guys I hope you don't take yourself to seriously about this as I just like to entertain myself, and of course you all.

Biggest stupid thread in a long time, just thought I would start trade week and it's rumours a little bit earlier this year.

I think 2 pages and thousands of views in 5 hours is not bad considering it all just made up.

In a way I suppose you could say I am behind enemy lines as I am a frequent poster on here but obviously come under a different name.

I will refesh my IP address so I can't be blocked.

Love you all

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
