Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He posted it in Nugget's thread, clearly he wasn't the first.

He posted it with a certainty, and with allusions to something greater...

As all good stortytellers do...

I tell you what, if Davey goes, we will be living out a Stephen King novel...

They're usually pretty long though.

We probably won't know for a while.

It might be an M. Night twist where we find out it was the trees that traded McLean and wanted to trade Davey but Mark Wahlberg stepped in and 'acted' his way out of it.

Real shame...

Well, at least he doesn't rap anymore...

I'm pretty sure that statement was number 4 on the "Don't Do" list in 'How To Win Friends And Impress People'...

I might get shouted down for this, and i stress that i am confident the club will retain Davey, but if there is a situation where he wants to leave we really need to have a good look at Bailey. Now i'm a fan of his, have been from the moment he set foot in the place, but if Davey walks then questions need to be asked about Bailey's methods with the boys because it doesn't matter how good you are tactically or development wise, if you don't have the players on your side what good are you?

I stress again that this is if Davey is asked to be traded, i am taking all this talk with a grain of salt, and i'm still reeling from the news that Chooka is leaving (and the fact that he's gone to Carlton makes it that much worse).

FWIW i don't think Davey would want to leave, he's been handed the role of leader of the Indigenous boys at the club, he's been acting as a mentor and friend to Jurrah and Aussie, both whom have from very difficult circumstances, and IMO he will be given the captain next year and more importantly the reigns as we make our rise the ladder and eventually challenge for the premiership. If it comes down to it, do what you have to retain him Melbourne, he is too important to let go.

And just a quick hypothetical to finish off, just say he does decide to leave we can say," fine walk out, we'll just pick you up in the PSD" can't we? Because that is an option, albeit not the greatest.

Agreed. If - and it is a big if at the moment - we lose 2 of the senior clubman then big questions need to be asked but I'll wait and see what happens for the moment.

Good question and one I've asked in a couple of places but I'm yet to hear a good answer.

At the very least, having pick 1 in the PSD should ensure that if Davey has indeed cracked the sads and wants to leave, that we are adequately compensated via trade.

I know as a fact that Miller wants to leave. If we can trade him we will. May get a pick about 30 for him.

Davey is not going anywhere. He is very tight with the brothers, he is very happy at our club and he is likely to be the next captain of the club. He has set up a Northern Territory scholarship with the MFC. He is not about to walk out on Wonna, Jarrah, Jetta, Bennell and the MFC. The MFC has been his family. Just because he has yet to sign a new contract does not mean he wants to leave.

I believe we are a good chance of picking up Burgoyne in the PSD as Hawthorn will need to bend over backwards in trade terms and salary cap terms to get him. I also believe we are in a great position to go for Awyan and/or Lovett with our picks this year.

No Miller, Davey stays, Burgoyne in the PSD and a shot a Jnr Davey? Apart from the Lovett bit it sounds good and I like to be an optimist at this time of year.

Miller and Valenti to Sydney for Pick 22.

Pick 9 and Ladson to Port for Burgoyne to Hawks.

Davey staying home.

Pick 22 and Dunn to Essendon for Davey.

Coach indicted on a rumour. Great stuff fellas.

It is my experience that footy players only like honesty from their coach if it is positive.

Any grumblings from the playing group don't make me want to fire the coach, they make me want to tell Jim to fire a rocket at them.

Well this is what I would think. But I would also have looked to McLean's $10,000 out of pocket donation as proof that he would not want to leave Melbourne. So I don't know what to think anymore.

Put it this way: if Davey goes, and cites a lack of direction/game plan/problems with Bailey as reasons, how will you feel? I would have to try hard to stop myself from apportioning the blame entirely on Bailey.

Trust me Mclean was pushed.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
